XBull B1700 Rear Cargo and Ski Box
Description
The XBull B1700 Rear Cargo and Ski Box is a long-format aluminum cargo solution built specifically for Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van owners who need serious exterior storage capacity. At 170 cm in length, it's designed to accommodate skis, snowboards, surfboards, and oversized expedition gear - keeping everything secure and accessible without sacrificing any interior living space. Powder-coated aluminum construction keeps the box tough against the elements, while the lockable, sealed lid ensures your gear stays protected on the road.
Mounting directly to the XBull rear door carrier system via an airline-track interface, the B1700 integrates cleanly into a purpose-built Sprinter build. Whether you're heading to a ski resort, a remote trailhead, or a multi-week overland expedition, this box keeps wet, muddy, or oversized equipment exactly where it belongs - outside the cabin and under control.
Key Features
- 170 cm Long Format: Accommodates full-length skis, snowboards, surfboards, and other oversized gear that won't fit inside the van.
- Powder-Coated Aluminum Construction: Lightweight yet rugged material with a durable finish that resists corrosion and daily wear.
- Lockable Sealed Lid: Integrated lock and closure hardware with sealed edges keeps contents secure and protected from weather.
- XBull Airline-Track Mounting System: Designed to mount directly to the XBull rear door carrier system for a clean, stable, and modular fit.
- Exterior Access: Gear loads and unloads from outside the van, keeping wet, dirty, or bulky items completely out of the living space.
- Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Fitment: Engineered specifically for Sprinter 907 applications using the XBull rear door carrier system.
- Left or Right Configuration: Available in B1700L (Left) or B1700R (Right) to match your specific door and carrier setup.
- Expedition-Ready Design: Built for overlanding, ski touring, and remote travel where reliable, high-capacity exterior storage is essential.
- Integrated Mounting Provisions: Carrier mounting hardware provisions are included for straightforward integration with the XBull ecosystem.
Side Options & Which to Choose
- B1700L (Left): Mounts to the left rear door of your Sprinter. Choose this if your XBull rear door carrier is configured for the left side or if your door layout, hinge angle, and lighting setup favor left-side placement.
- B1700R (Right): Mounts to the right rear door of your Sprinter. Choose this if your XBull rear door carrier is configured for the right side. Verify door configuration, hinge angle, and lighting visibility before ordering.

With official U.S. distribution and support through RRE Global, you're backed by a team that knows these systems inside and out. The powder-coated aluminum construction is engineered for years of dependable use in demanding conditions, from ski resort parking lots to backcountry tracks. The sealed, lockable lid means you never have to worry about your gear getting soaked, stolen, or rattled loose on a rough road. FAQ
Do I need the XBull Rear Door Carrier System before purchasing this box?
Yes - the B1700 mounts exclusively to the XBull rear door carrier system for the Sprinter 907. It is not a standalone roof box or universal cargo box. If you don't already have the XBull rear door carrier installed, you'll need to add that to your build first. The compatible carrier system starts at $1,890.00 and is available separately.
How do I know if I need the Left (B1700L) or Right (B1700R) version?
The left/right designation refers to which rear door the box will mount to. This depends on your XBull rear door carrier configuration, your van's door setup, and practical factors like hinge angle and lighting visibility. If you're unsure, contact XBull USA before ordering - it's an important fitment decision that can't be changed after purchase.
Will the B1700 block my van's taillights or license plate?
It can, depending on your specific configuration. Installed cargo must not obstruct required lamps or the license plate. XBull offers compatible solutions including the XBull Tail Light Repeater Kit ($1,150.00) and the License Plate Relocation Bracket ($399.00) to keep your van street-legal and road-safe after installation.
Is the B1700 waterproof?
The B1700 features a lockable lid with sealed edges designed to protect contents from rain and road spray. While it is built for exterior use in demanding conditions, we recommend checking the seals periodically and avoiding submerging or pressure-washing the box directly to maintain optimal weather resistance over time.
Can this box carry gear other than skis?
Absolutely. While the 170 cm long format is ideal for skis, snowboards, and surfboards, the B1700 is equally well-suited for tools, tent poles, ladders, expedition equipment, fishing rods, and any other oversized or dirty gear you want to keep out of the cabin. The lockable, sealed enclosure makes it versatile for year-round use.
