Tuff Stuff Alpine 61 Hardshell Rooftop Tent - Aluminum, 2-3 Person

Description

The Tuff Stuff Alpine 61 is a premium hardshell rooftop tent built for serious overlanders and 4-season adventurers who demand durability, versatility, and fast setup. Featuring a unique dual-action opening roof, you can deploy it as a classic wedge by opening the rear, or go full pop-up by releasing the front for maximum headroom and 360-degree ventilation with windows and screens. One person can have the Alpine 61 fully set up in under a minute - no fumbling with poles or clumsy zippers.

The shell is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum and the tent fabric is a poly/cotton rip-stop rated at 3200 GSM with a waterproof rating exceeding 3500MM, EPA-certified antibacterial treatment, and full blackout coating so you can sleep in as long as nature allows. The integrated roof rack, T-slot rails, YKK zippers, German-engineered gas struts, and 1-inch aluminum honeycomb floor make the Alpine 61 one of the most accessory-ready and field-proven rooftop tents on the market.

Key Features

  • Dual-Action Opening Roof: Deploy as a wedge (rear open) or full pop-up (front open) - 4 German-engineered gas struts handle the heavy lifting.
  • Aluminum Hardshell: Durable aircraft-grade aluminum shell provides rugged weather protection and an ultra-low 8" closed profile for easy driving clearance.
  • Poly/Cotton Rip-Stop Fabric - 3200 GSM: High tear resistance and tensile strength; waterproof rated at over 3500MM for all-weather confidence.
  • Blackout Coated Fabric: All tent panels are blackout coated - convertible from a full 360-degree screen room to a pitch-dark sleeping cave in seconds.
  • EPA-Certified Antibacterial Fabric: Mold-inhibiting treatment keeps the tent fresh across years of hard use.
  • 2.75" Memory Foam Mattress: Full-size 58x85 inch memory foam mattress included - no sleeping pads needed.
  • Integrated Roof Rack: Built-in roof rack bars on top of the tent for hauling kayaks, bikes, and gear - adds versatility without extra hardware.
  • T-Slot Rails (4 total): Standard M8 T-slot hardware surrounds the exterior, letting you bolt on awnings, shower tents, water supplies, and more.
  • Telescoping Ladder with Angled Steps: 103-inch telescoping ladder with ergonomic angled steps - comfortable on the arches and easy to stow.
  • YKK Zippers with Paracord Pulls: Premium YKK zippers fitted with custom paracord pulls that reduce road noise while driving.
  • 1,200 lb Weight Capacity: Supports up to 1,200 lbs; crossbar load capacity rated at 728 lbs.
  • 3 Entry Options: Choose passenger side, driver side, or rear entry depending on your vehicle and campsite layout.

The Alpine 61 is built for overlanders who refuse to compromise - whether you're deep in the backcountry for a week or pulling into a campsite after a long drive. The one-minute solo setup means less time wrestling with your shelter and more time enjoying the outdoors. The full blackout fabric system is a genuine game-changer for anyone who has ever been woken up by early morning light, and the dual-mode wedge/pop-up design gives you flexibility that single-mode tents simply can't match. The integrated T-slot rail system and roof rack turn the Alpine 61 into an overland base camp, ready to accept awnings, shower tents, and gear hauling accessories without needing extra mounting solutions. Backed by Tuff Stuff Overland's reputation for overbuilt, expedition-ready gear, the Alpine 61 is a long-term investment in the way you experience the outdoors.

FAQ

What vehicles is the Alpine 61 compatible with?

The Alpine 61 is compatible with most vehicles equipped with a roof rack, bed rack, or trailer that can support the tent's weight. The mounting brackets fit crossbars up to 3.25 inches wide. For hatchbacks, make sure you have adequate clearance to open the rear of the vehicle before mounting. Always verify your vehicle's dynamic roof load rating before installation.

What is the difference between the wedge and pop-up modes?

The wedge mode is activated by releasing the two rear latches and lifting the rear of the roof - great for quick overnight stops or when you want a lower profile. The full pop-up mode adds additional headroom and opens up all window panels for 360-degree ventilation and screen coverage, ideal for warm nights or extended stays. Both modes use the same mattress and interior - it's just a matter of how much room and airflow you want.

How long does it take to set up and pack down?

One person can set up or pack down the Alpine 61 in approximately one minute. The gas struts do most of the work - you simply release the latches, push up on the handles, and the roof rises on its own. Closing is equally fast. This is one of the key advantages of a hardshell rooftop tent over soft-shell designs.

Is the LED light strip ready to use out of the box?

The LED light strip is included with the tent but requires a USB power pack (battery bank) to operate - this is not included with the tent. The light strip is white diffused and dimmable, and attaches via Velcro so you can position it on either side of the interior.

Is an annex room available for the Alpine 61?

An annex room is not included with the Alpine 61 and was listed as coming soon at the time of this listing. Please contact us at service@omahasportsandgames.com for the latest availability on compatible annex room accessories.

How does freight delivery work for this tent?

Final delivery is by appointment - the carrier will call the phone number on your order to schedule. For residential addresses, delivery is to the sidewalk, driveway, or garage only. Inspect the shipment carefully before signing, and report any concealed damage within 72 hours of delivery.
