Total Gym LEX Lower Extremity Recovery & Plyometric Trainer
Description
The Total Gym Recovery Series LEX (Lower EX-tremity) is a purpose-built lower body training machine engineered for faster recovery, rehabilitation, and explosive athletic development. Whether you're a physical therapist guiding a post-surgery patient or a performance coach developing vertical jump and plyometric power, the LEX provides a safe, progressive, and highly effective training environment. Users perform squats and squat jumps using a percentage of their own bodyweight, with the adjustable incline controlling resistance level - making it accessible to beginners and demanding enough for elite athletes.
The LEX's spinal support design keeps the back properly aligned throughout every squat variation, including single-leg squats and staggered stance positions. The included Slide Distance Regulator lets trainers precisely customize the glide board's rolling distance to match each user's strength and mobility. Four latex resistance bands add up to 70 lbs of additional variable resistance, and the pneumatic brake system softens landings to protect joints during plyometric movements - a combination that makes this machine a standout tool for both clinical and athletic settings.
Key Features
- Adjustable Incline Design: Enables partial bodyweight squats by varying the incline angle, making resistance easy to progress or regress for any fitness level.
- Dual Resistance System: Combines linear bodyweight resistance with optional band variable resistance for comprehensive concentric and eccentric muscle loading.
- Four Latex Resistance Bands: Add 10-70 lbs of resistance in 10 lb increments, allowing precise overload for strength and plyometric training.
- Slide Distance Regulator (Included): Customizes the glide board's rolling distance to match each individual's strength and mobility - essential for rehabilitation progressions.
- Pneumatic Brake System: Reduces airborne height during jump exercises, softening landing impact and protecting joints during plyometric training.
- Mount/Dismount Lock: Ensures users start every exercise from a safe, controlled position - critical for post-surgery and high-impact training.
- Anatomically Curved Platform: Specially designed to follow the natural hip-to-foot ratio, ensuring proper biomechanics throughout all squat and jump movements.
- Steel and Aluminum Construction: Frame built with steel and steel-reinforced extruded aluminum rails for long-lasting commercial durability.
- 400 lb Weight Capacity: Supports users up to 400 lbs, making it suitable for a wide range of clients in both clinical and fitness environments.
- Exercise Library Access: Includes a link to an extensive library of additional and advanced exercise options to keep programming fresh and progressive.
- Commercial Warranty: Frame covered for 5 years, moving parts (rollers) for 1 year, upholstery and foam handles for 90 days.

FAQ
Who is the Total Gym LEX designed for?
The LEX is designed for a wide range of users - from post-surgery rehabilitation patients working with physical therapists, to competitive athletes training for explosive power and vertical jump. Its adjustable resistance and range of motion controls make it appropriate for beginners and advanced users alike, and its 400 lb weight capacity accommodates virtually any client.
How is resistance adjusted on the LEX?
Resistance is controlled in two ways. First, the incline angle of the machine is adjustable, which changes what percentage of the user's bodyweight they are working against. Second, four included latex resistance bands can be added to increase eccentric loading by 10-70 lbs in 10 lb increments, allowing for precise and progressive overload.
Is the LEX safe for users recovering from knee or lower body surgery?
Yes - the LEX was specifically designed with recovery in mind. The spinal support keeps the body properly aligned, the pneumatic brake softens jump landings to protect joints, and the Mount/Dismount lock ensures every session starts from a safe position. The ability to work with a very small percentage of bodyweight makes it an excellent tool for early-stage post-surgical rehabilitation under the guidance of a physical therapist or trainer.
Does the LEX ship on a pallet?
Yes. The LEX ships freight on a pallet. The shipping weight is 325 lbs and the shipping dimensions are 78" x 29" x 22" including the pallet. Please contact us at service@omahasportsandgames.com before your purchase if you have questions about delivery logistics or to get an estimated delivery timeframe.
What is the warranty on the Total Gym LEX?
The LEX comes with a commercial warranty covering the frame for 5 years, moving parts (rollers) for 1 year, and upholstery and foam handles for 90 days. Warranty terms may vary outside the US - contact your authorized distributor for details.
Can the LEX be used for plyometric and jump training?
Absolutely. The LEX is specifically engineered for safe plyometric training. Its pneumatic brake system reduces airborne height during jump exercises, protecting joints on landing, while the anatomically curved platform ensures proper biomechanics throughout explosive movements. It's been used extensively for ACL jump training and athletic performance development.
