FAQ
Does the SVS-760C come with charts ready to use?
Yes - this system includes a C-MAP 4D chart card so you can start navigating right out of the box. It also supports Navionics cartography, giving you the flexibility to choose the chart platform that best covers your boating area.
Can this chartplotter be mounted outside in the elements?
Absolutely. The SVS-760C carries an IPX-7 waterproof rating, meaning it is designed to withstand exposure to water and harsh marine environments. It can be mounted indoors or outdoors on virtually any boat style or size.
Is AIS built in, or do I need additional equipment?
AIS is not built in, but the SVS-760C is designed for easy integration with SI-TEX's own Metadata AIS module or other compatible AIS receivers. Adding AIS will give you enhanced situational awareness by displaying nearby vessel traffic on your chart screen.
What is Navionics Sonar Chart recording and why does it matter?
Navionics Sonar Chart recording lets you use your depth sounder to survey and record the bottom contours in your local boating area. This data can be uploaded to the Navionics Sonar Chart Database, potentially improving charts for other boaters in your region. It is especially useful if you frequently navigate shallow or lesser-charted waters.
Does this unit require professional installation?
The SVS-760C is a standalone unit that includes an external GPS antenna, making installation relatively straightforward. Many boaters install it themselves, though connecting it to additional NMEA devices like AIS receivers may benefit from a professional marine electronics installer.
