What type of steering systems is the SP-80 compatible with?
The SP-80 is designed to work with hydraulic or mechanical steering systems on outboard, inboard, and sterndrive vessels. If you are unsure whether your boat's steering system is compatible, contact us at service@omahasportsandgames.com and we can help you verify before purchasing.
Does the SP-80 work with my GPS or chartplotter?
Yes - the SP-80 features a built-in NMEA 0183 Loran/GPS interface, allowing it to automatically pilot your vessel to the next waypoint programmed in your GPS or chartplotter. Most modern marine GPS units support NMEA 0183 output.
What is the Ghost Rudder feature?
Ghost Rudder is a backup steering mode that activates if the rudder feedback sensor fails. The autopilot uses its memory of past rudder movements to calculate and continue steering your vessel, giving you an added layer of safety in the event of a sensor malfunction.
Can I add a second control station to the SP-80?
Yes. The SP-80 system can be expanded by adding the optional SI-TEX SP-70 Handheld Control Unit, which provides a fully functional second station for added convenience and flexibility on your vessel.
Is this listing a complete system or just the control head?
This listing - the SP-80-3 - includes the autopilot control head, hydraulic pump, and rotary feedback unit, making it a complete installation-ready package. No need to source the pump or feedback sensor separately.
