SI-TEX SAS-300+ Class B AIS Transceiver with 7" Color Display
Description
The SI-TEX SAS-300+ is a professional-grade Class B AIS Transceiver built for mariners who demand reliable, real-time vessel tracking on the water. At the heart of the system is a 7" high-resolution color TFT display, delivering crisp, easy-to-read vessel data even in demanding conditions. The SAS-300+ features SI-TEX's advanced Rmax technology, which maximizes both receive and transmit range to ensure no AIS message is missed or left unprocessed.
Whether you're navigating a busy shipping lane or monitoring traffic in a crowded harbor, the SAS-300+ gives you full situational awareness with full-color worldwide base chart display and optional C-MAP MAX cartography overlay. With flexible bundle options - including internal GPS, external GPS, or display-only configurations - you can tailor the system to fit your vessel's existing setup.
Key Features
- 7" Color TFT Display (740x480): Large, high-resolution screen makes it easy to view vessel data, names, MMSI numbers, and range/bearing at a glance.
- Class B AIS Transceiver: Black box Class B transceiver transmits and receives AIS signals, keeping you visible and informed on the water.
- Rmax Technology: Advanced receive/transmit range maximization ensures all available AIS messages are received and decoded in real-time.
- Full-Color Worldwide Base Chart: Displays AIS targets on a built-in worldwide base chart - no additional cartography required to get started.
- C-MAP MAX Cartography Compatible: Optionally overlay AIS targets on fully detailed C-MAP MAX charts for enhanced navigation context.
- Track Up to 5 Vessels: Monitor up to five individual vessels with full track history and live detail readouts.
- CPA and TCPA Alarms: Easy-to-use Closest Point of Approach (CPA) and Time to Closest Point of Approach (TCPA) alarms alert you to potential collision risks.
- Instant "Go To" Function: Quickly navigate to any AIS target with a single dedicated function key command.
- Color-Coded Vessel Sorting: Sort and distinguish different vessel types by color and transmission type with on-screen icons for fast identification.
- Dedicated Control Pad: Full control pad with dedicated function keys allows intuitive, glove-friendly operation in all conditions.
Model Options & Which to Choose
- w/Internal GPS Antenna (SAS-300-1): Includes the SAS-300 display and black box Class B AIS transceiver with an integrated internal GPS antenna. The ideal all-in-one solution for new installations where a clean, compact setup with no external antenna is preferred.
- w/External GPS Antenna (SAS-300-2): Includes the SAS-300 display and black box Class B transceiver with an external GPS antenna. Best for vessels where the transceiver will be mounted below deck or in an enclosure that may limit GPS signal reception - the external antenna ensures optimal GPS lock.
- Display Only f/Use w/Existing AIS (SAS-300-3): The SAS-300 display unit only, designed for vessels that already have a compatible black box AIS transceiver installed. A cost-effective upgrade for skippers who want the large 7" color display and advanced features without replacing existing AIS hardware.

FAQ
What is the difference between a Class B AIS transceiver and a Class A?
Class A AIS transceivers are required on most commercial vessels over 300 gross tons and transmit at higher power (12.5W) with more frequent update rates. Class B transceivers, like the SAS-300+, are designed for recreational and smaller commercial vessels - they transmit at lower power (2W) with slightly less frequent updates, but still provide full receive capability for all vessel types. For the vast majority of recreational boaters and smaller commercial operators, a Class B unit like the SAS-300+ provides all the safety and situational awareness benefits of AIS at a more accessible price.
Do I need separate navigation software or charts to use the SAS-300+?
No - the SAS-300+ comes with a built-in worldwide base chart so you can start using it right out of the box. For mariners who want more detailed cartography, the system also supports C-MAP MAX chart cartography as an optional overlay, giving you highly detailed coastal and inland waterway detail when you need it.
Can I use the SAS-300 display with my existing AIS transceiver?
Yes. The SAS-300-3 "Display Only" bundle is specifically designed for vessels that already have a compatible black box AIS transceiver installed. This lets you upgrade to the large 7" color TFT display and all the SAS-300+ interface features without replacing your existing AIS hardware.
Which bundle should I choose - internal or external GPS antenna?
If the display and transceiver will be mounted in an open helm area with good sky visibility, the internal GPS antenna (SAS-300-1) is the most convenient choice. If the black box transceiver will be located below deck, inside a console, or anywhere with limited sky exposure, the external GPS antenna (SAS-300-2) is the better option to ensure a reliable, accurate GPS fix at all times.
What does Rmax technology do?
Rmax is SI-TEX's proprietary receive/transmit range maximization technology built into the SAS-300+ transceiver. It is designed to optimize the sensitivity and efficiency of the AIS radio receiver, ensuring that the maximum number of AIS messages from surrounding vessels are picked up, decoded, and displayed in real-time - even in areas with heavy AIS traffic where signals can overlap and compete.
