FAQ
What is an NMEA 0183 repeater and why do I need one?
An NMEA 0183 repeater like the KRD-10 takes navigation data from your existing instruments - GPS, chartplotter, depth sounder, etc. - and re-displays it at a secondary location on your vessel. This is ideal for a second helm station, the flybridge, or any position where you need the same navigation information without running a full chartplotter to that location.
Is the KRD-10 compatible with my current GPS or chartplotter?
The KRD-10 supports NMEA 0183 versions 1.5, 2.0, and 3.0, which covers the vast majority of marine GPS units, chartplotters, and sensors on the market. As long as your existing equipment has an NMEA 0183 output, you should be able to connect it to the KRD-10 with ease.
Can the KRD-10 be used on both 12V and 24V vessel electrical systems?
Yes. The KRD-10 accepts a wide input voltage range of 10.8 to 31.2 VDC, making it fully compatible with standard 12V and 24V marine electrical systems found on everything from small powerboats to larger offshore vessels.
How is the KRD-10 installed?
The KRD-10 is designed for easy flush mounting at the helm or instrument panel. Its compact 5.75" x 5.75" footprint fits in standard instrument cutouts, and the straightforward NMEA 0183 wiring keeps installation clean. Refer to the product manual for detailed mounting and wiring instructions.
Is the display readable in direct sunlight?
Yes. The KRD-10 features a bonded color LCD specifically chosen for high visibility in bright sunlight conditions. The bonded construction also prevents internal condensation that can cloud displays in humid marine environments.
