FAQ
What type of rider is the San Telmo II designed for?
The San Telmo II is specifically designed for the long, lean, leggy rider. Its geometry and flap placement are tailored to accommodate riders with longer legs, providing a secure, balanced position that many standard saddles don't offer this body type.
What does the adjustable XCH tree mean for my horse?
The XCH adjustable tree allows the saddle's gullet width to be modified to better match your horse's back shape. This is a significant advantage because a horse's back can change with fitness, age, and season - an adjustable tree means you won't need to purchase a new saddle every time your horse's shape changes slightly.
What size saddle should I choose?
Saddle seat size is typically determined by the rider's anatomy, particularly the distance from the back of the knee to the tailbone. As a general guide: riders under 130 lbs often fit a 16.5, 130-160 lbs typically suits a 17.0, 160-180 lbs may prefer a 17.5, and riders over 180 lbs or with a broader seat often choose an 18.0. When in doubt, consult a certified saddle fitter for the most accurate recommendation.
How do the Velcro knee and thigh blocks work?
The Velcro triangle knee block and thigh block can be repositioned or removed entirely to suit your personal preference and riding discipline. This adjustability allows you to fine-tune your leg position and support level, making the saddle more adaptable to different riders and training goals.
How should I care for the Oakbark covered leather?
Covered leather saddles benefit from regular cleaning with a quality leather cleaner and conditioning with a leather conditioner or balm. Avoid soaking the leather with water, and allow it to dry naturally away from direct heat if it gets wet. Regular care will keep the leather supple, grippy, and looking great for years.
