FAQ
What is the difference between the Loon 126 and the Loon 120?
The main difference is length - the Loon 126 is 12'6" while the Loon 120 is 10' long. The longer hull of the Loon 126 provides better straight-line tracking and glide efficiency, making it a better choice for open water, longer day trips, or paddlers who want a bit more speed. The Loon 120 is a bit more maneuverable and easier to transport, which suits shorter outings or tighter waterways.
Is the Loon 126 good for beginners?
Yes - the Loon 126 is an excellent choice for beginners. Its wide 31-inch beam and extra hull volume provide excellent initial stability, so new paddlers feel secure right away. The ACS2 seat makes longer sessions comfortable even if you're still building your paddling technique, and the straight-tracking keel helps beginners maintain a straight course without constant correction strokes.
Does the USB port on the work deck require a battery or power bank?
Yes - the USB port on the removable work deck requires an external power source such as a portable power bank (not included). You simply connect your own power bank to the internal USB connection to charge devices like phones, GPS units, or fish finders while out on the water.
Can the Loon 126 be used for fishing?
Absolutely. While it is classified as a recreational kayak, the Loon 126 has several features that make it well-suited for casual fishing. The removable work deck gives you a surface for tackle and gear, the deck rigging holds extra equipment securely, and the paddle clip frees both hands when you need to cast or land a fish. For serious fishing-specific setups with rod holders and gear tracks, Old Town's dedicated fishing kayak lineup may offer more specialized features.
