Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph Automatic Grade 5 Titanium Watch White
Description
The Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph is a landmark achievement in modern watchmaking - the first automatic chronograph to combine a column-wheel movement with vertical clutch design, 1000m water resistance, and Grade 5 Titanium construction in a single timepiece. Built for the discerning collector who demands historical significance alongside elite craftsmanship, the WaveRacer delivers a specification sheet that rivals watches costing $8,000 to $20,000 or more, all housed in a case just 16.5mm thin. At its heart beats the proprietary Oceaneva 4155 caliber, a 288-component, 41-jewel integrated chronograph movement operating at 28,800 bph with a 55-hour power reserve.
The white dial with black Guilloché subdial rings brings a crisp, timeless elegance to the instrument, while Grade A BGW9 Swiss Luminova on the bezel, hands, and indices ensures flawless legibility in complete darkness. Strictly limited to just 50 individually serialized units worldwide, this is a rare opportunity to own a numbered piece of horological history from a USA-based brand that has become only the 6th in the world to test their watches at actual ocean depths.
Key Features
- Oceaneva 4155 Caliber: Integrated column-wheel automatic chronograph movement with vertical clutch design - smoother engagement and less wear than modular or cam-and-lever systems.
- 1000m Water Resistance: An extraordinary depth rating for a mechanical chronograph, achieved through screw-down pushers with 4 independent seals each and a screw-down crown.
- Grade 5 Titanium Case and Bezel: 227% stronger and 225% harder than stainless steel, yet 40% lighter - delivering supreme durability and all-day wearing comfort.
- Black DLC Coated Bezel: Diamond-like carbon coating rated at 2000 HV (Vickers Hardness) - roughly 5 to 8 times harder than standard Grade 5 Titanium - for extreme scratch resistance.
- 55-Hour Power Reserve: The 4155 caliber runs at 28,800 bph (4Hz), tested to +/- 8.5 seconds per day accuracy, with hacking seconds and 288 individual components.
- White Dial with Black Guilloché Subdial Rings: Classically elegant dial with intricate engraved Guilloché patterns on the subdial rings for depth, texture, and sophisticated contrast.
- Grade A BGW9 Swiss Luminova: Applied generously to bezel markers, indices, and skeletonized hands - charges quickly and emits a long-lasting bright blue glow for pitch-black readability.
- 4.3mm Domed Sapphire Crystal: Slightly domed, nearly scratchproof sapphire crystal for crystal-clear visibility and robust protection.
- Limited Edition of 50 Pieces: Each WaveRacer is individually serialized (XX/50) per model number - rarity that drives long-term collector value.
- Heritage Caseback Engraving: Brushed titanium caseback features a deep engraving of the Neptune Statue at Virginia Beach, Virginia - the monument that inspired the Oceaneva brand.
- Helium Escape Valve: Included for professional saturation diving use, ensuring pressure equalization on ascent.
- German FKM Rubber Strap with Titanium Buckle: UV, chemical, and temperature-resistant FKM rubber strap secured by a polished Grade 5 Titanium buckle fastened with a screw.

Why You'll Love It
The WaveRacer is the kind of watch that makes serious collectors stop and take notice - not just for what it looks like, but for what it actually achieves. Oceaneva is a USA-based brand with a proven track record of pushing the boundaries of horology, and the WaveRacer represents their most ambitious expression of that mission. No other brand has delivered an automatic chronograph with a column-wheel movement, 1000m water resistance, and Grade 5 Titanium construction at this price point - or arguably any price point. The movement finishing alone, with Cotes de Geneve on the rotor, Perlage on the dial side, Soleillage on the bridges, and heat-blued screws, reflects a level of attention that rivals Swiss manufactures charging many times more. With only 50 units produced, your individually numbered WaveRacer is not just a watch - it is a verifiable, authenticated piece of watchmaking history. Whether worn in the deep ocean or at the boardroom, it performs and impresses without compromise.

FAQ
What makes the WaveRacer's 1000m water resistance exceptional for a chronograph?
Achieving 1000m water resistance in a mechanical chronograph is extremely rare because the pusher ports - required to operate the chronograph functions - are natural weak points in a case's water resistance. Oceaneva engineered around this by fitting the WaveRacer with heavy-duty screw-down pushers, each containing four independent sets of seals, combined with a screw-down crown. This multi-layered sealing system is what makes the 1000m rating possible and credible in a functioning chronograph.
What is a column-wheel with vertical clutch design, and why does it matter?
A column-wheel is a precision component that controls the start, stop, and reset functions of a chronograph. It delivers a more consistent, tactile feel with each pusher press compared to simpler cam-and-lever systems. The vertical clutch engages the chronograph mechanism from above rather than from the side, which eliminates the slight jump of the seconds hand when the chronograph is started - a refinement typically found only in high-end Swiss movements. Together, they make the WaveRacer's chronograph feel smoother and more precise while reducing long-term wear on the movement.
Why is Grade 5 Titanium better than stainless steel for a dive watch?
Grade 5 Titanium - also known as Ti-6Al-4V - is the highest-grade titanium alloy used in watchmaking. It is 227% stronger and 225% harder than standard stainless steel, yet approximately 40% lighter, which dramatically reduces wrist fatigue during long wear. It is also highly resistant to corrosion and scratching, making it ideal for saltwater environments and demanding daily use. For a watch rated to 1000m, the strength-to-weight advantage of Grade 5 Titanium is not just a luxury - it is a functional necessity.
Can I use the WaveRacer for actual scuba diving or saturation diving?
Yes. The WaveRacer is rated to 1000 meters of water resistance and includes a helium escape valve, which is specifically required for saturation (technical) diving where watches are exposed to pressurized environments for extended periods. The screw-down crown and pushers must be fully secured before any water exposure. For recreational scuba diving, the WaveRacer vastly exceeds the minimum requirements, and its tachymeter bezel and chronograph functions are fully operational - though the pushers should only be operated out of water.
How do I ensure the strap fits my wrist correctly?
Oceaneva offers the FKM rubber strap in both standard and extended lengths. After your order is placed, their team will contact you prior to shipment to confirm which length is right for your wrist, ensuring a tailored and comfortable fit before the watch leaves the warehouse.
Is the WaveRacer a true limited edition, and does that affect its value?
Yes - production is strictly capped at 50 units per model number, and each watch is individually serialized with its own unique number. The stainless steel Certificate of Authenticity card is matched directly to your case's serial number, providing documented provenance. For collectors, this combination of extreme rarity, unique serial numbering, and certified authentication is exactly what supports long-term collectible and investment value.
