Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph Automatic Grade 5 Titanium Watch Mother of Pearl
Description
The Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph is a landmark achievement in modern horology - the first automatic chronograph to combine an integrated column-wheel movement with vertical clutch design, 1000m water resistance, and Grade 5 Titanium construction in a single timepiece. At its heart beats the Oceaneva 4155 caliber, a 288-component, 41-jewel movement operating at 28,800 bph with a 55-hour power reserve and an accuracy rating of +/- 8.5 seconds per day. The dial is dressed in genuine white mother-of-pearl sourced from Pacific oyster shells, with mauve MOP subdials that add a warm, luminous contrast to the iridescent nacre surface.
Built for serious collectors who refuse to compromise, the WaveRacer houses all of this engineering in a case just 16.5mm thick, weighing only 4.6 oz total. The Grade 5 Titanium case and DLC-coated bezel deliver a surface hardness of 1200 HV - roughly 5 to 8 times harder than standard titanium - while remaining 40% lighter than stainless steel. This is a strictly limited edition of 50 individually serialized pieces, making it a rare acquisition with genuine rarity-driven value for any serious watch portfolio.

Why You'll Love It
The Oceaneva WaveRacer represents one of the most compelling spec-to-value propositions in the luxury watch market today - combining specifications that competing brands typically price at $8,000 to $20,000 or more. As a USA-based brand, Oceaneva has made horological history by being only the sixth brand ever to ocean-test their watches at depth, and the only American brand to do so. The Cotes de Geneve rotor, heat-blued screws, Perlage and Soleillage finishing on the plates and bridges, and gold foil Oceaneva logo all speak to a level of movement decoration rarely seen at this price point. With only 50 units produced globally, the WaveRacer is a timepiece that holds its rarity permanently - no future production run will dilute your ownership of a numbered piece. Whether you are a seasoned collector seeking a meaningful addition or a discerning buyer making your first serious horological investment, the WaveRacer is engineered to impress and built to endure.

FAQ
What makes the WaveRacer's 1000m water resistance in a chronograph so significant?
Achieving 1000m water resistance in a mechanical chronograph is an extremely rare engineering feat. Most chronographs have exposed pushers that are difficult to seal reliably at depth. The WaveRacer uses screw-down pushers with four independent seals each, plus a screw-down crown, creating a multi-layered defense system that keeps moisture and pressure out even at extreme depths. Very few brands in the world have ever achieved this combination at any price point.
What is the difference between a column-wheel chronograph and a cam-and-lever system?
A column-wheel chronograph uses a precision-machined rotating wheel with raised columns to control the start, stop, and reset functions of the stopwatch. This design provides a smoother, more tactile pusher feel and is generally more reliable over time compared to simpler cam-and-lever systems. The vertical clutch adds another layer of refinement by engaging the chronograph mechanism vertically rather than laterally, eliminating the brief jump of the seconds hand when the chronograph is started - a hallmark of high-end movement design.
Is Grade 5 Titanium really better than stainless steel for a watch case?
For most wearers, yes. Grade 5 Titanium is 227% stronger and 225% harder than stainless steel while being approximately 40% lighter. This means the watch sits comfortably on the wrist even at 44mm, with no heavy metal fatigue over a long day. It is also highly resistant to corrosion and scratching, making it ideal for dive watches and everyday wear. The DLC-coated bezel on the WaveRacer takes this even further, with a surface hardness of 1200 HV.
How do I operate the chronograph with screw-down pushers?
To use the chronograph, you first need to unscrew the pushers by turning them counterclockwise until they move freely. The top pusher starts and stops the stopwatch function, while the bottom pusher resets it. When you are done timing, always screw the pushers back down firmly to restore the full 1000m water resistance seal before exposing the watch to water.
How limited is this edition really, and does it come with proof of authenticity?
Only 50 units of this specific model (WROC4155WHMOPTGR5TT) are produced globally. Each watch is individually serialized with a unique number engraved on the case. Your purchase includes a Stainless Steel Certificate of Authenticity card that matches your specific serial number, a Stainless Steel Warranty Card, and an engraved inner bezel with anti-counterfeiting features including the Oceaneva Trident logo and "WaveRacer" repeated four times.
Can the FKM rubber strap be adjusted or replaced?
Yes. The German-sourced FKM rubber strap is attached via a standard 22mm lug width, making it compatible with any aftermarket strap in that size. The strap is also available in standard and extended lengths - Oceaneva will contact you prior to shipment to confirm the right fit for your wrist. The polished Grade 5 Titanium buckle is securely attached to the strap with a screw for added durability.
