Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph Automatic Grade 5 Titanium Watch Black Silver
Description
The Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph is a groundbreaking achievement in modern horology - the first automatic chronograph ever to combine Grade 5 Titanium construction, an integrated column-wheel movement with vertical clutch, and 1000m water resistance in a single case. Built by Oceaneva, a USA-based brand that has made history as only the 6th brand in the world to test their watches at true ocean depths, this timepiece delivers a combination of specs that competitors price at $8,000-$20,000 or more. At its heart beats the proprietary Oceaneva 4155 caliber, a 41-jewel, 288-component mechanical masterpiece running at 28,800 bph with a 55-hour power reserve and vertical clutch design for silky-smooth chronograph engagement.
The Black Sunray Pattern dial pairs beautifully with silver Guilloché subdials, while skeletonized hands loaded with Grade A BGW9 Swiss Luminova ensure flawless readability in any condition. Limited to just 50 individually serialized pieces per model number, the WaveRacer is as rare as it is technically formidable - a watch engineered for serious collectors who refuse to compromise on craftsmanship, capability, or exclusivity.
Key Features
- 1000m Water Resistance: Extraordinary depth rating for a mechanical automatic chronograph - a spec almost unheard of in the industry at any price point.
- Grade 5 Titanium Case and Bezel: 227% stronger and 225% harder than stainless steel, yet 40% lighter - resists scratches, corrosion, and daily wear with ease.
- Oceaneva 4155 Column-Wheel Vertical Clutch Movement: Integrated architecture with 41 jewels and 288 components delivers a smooth, tactile chronograph engagement without long-term wear.
- 55-Hour Power Reserve at 28,800 bph (4Hz): Keeps running through a full weekend off the wrist, with accuracy averaging +/- 8.5 seconds per day.
- DLC-Coated Bezel - 1200 HV Hardness: Clear DLC coating makes the tachymeter bezel 5-8 times harder than standard Grade 5 titanium and extremely scratch resistant.
- Grade A BGW9 Swiss Luminova: Applied generously to bezel markers, indices, and skeletonized hands for a bright, long-lasting blue glow in low-light conditions.
- 4.3mm Slightly Domed Sapphire Crystal: Near-scratchproof domed crystal adds depth to the dial while protecting it under extreme aquatic pressure.
- Screw-Down Pushers with 4 Seals Each: Multi-layered sealing system on every pusher and a screw-down crown locks out moisture and dust at depth.
- Helium Escape Valve: Included for saturation diving compatibility, ensuring safe pressure equalization during decompression.
- Limited Edition - 50 Pieces Only: Each watch is individually serialized (XX/50), making every unit a uniquely numbered piece of horological history.
- Heritage Caseback Engraving: Screw-down brushed titanium caseback features a detailed engraving of the Neptune Statue at Virginia Beach - the monument that inspired the Oceaneva brand.
- German FKM Rubber Strap with Grade 5 Titanium Buckle: UV, chemical, and temperature-resistant strap secured by a polished titanium screw-fastened buckle; available in standard and extended lengths.

Why You'll Love It
The WaveRacer represents a rare opportunity to own a timepiece that is genuinely without peer at its price point - a watch that competes head-to-head with brands charging five figures more. Oceaneva is a proudly USA-based brand that has built its reputation on pushing the limits of what a mechanical dive chronograph can be, and this watch is the clearest expression of that mission yet. The combination of an industry-first spec sheet, meticulous movement finishing with Côtes de Genève, Perlage, Soleillage, and heat-blued screws, and a deeply personal heritage engraving on the caseback make it as meaningful to own as it is impressive to wear. With only 50 units produced globally and each one individually numbered, the WaveRacer is the kind of piece that serious collectors recognize immediately. Whether you're diving open water, timing lap records, or adding a proven investment to your collection, this is a watch engineered to perform and built to last a lifetime.

FAQ
What makes the WaveRacer's 1000m water resistance so unusual for a chronograph?
Achieving 1000m water resistance in a mechanical chronograph is extremely rare because the pushers - the buttons used to start, stop, and reset the chronograph - are inherently weak points in a watch's sealing. The WaveRacer solves this with heavy-duty screw-down pushers that each contain four independent seal layers, along with a screw-down crown, to create a multi-layered defense system capable of withstanding pressures that would flood virtually any other mechanical chronograph on the market.
What is Grade 5 Titanium and why does it matter for a watch?
Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) is an aerospace-grade alloy that is 227% stronger and 225% harder than standard stainless steel, yet 40% lighter. For a watch, this means you get a case that is dramatically more resistant to dents, scratches, and corrosion while weighing significantly less on the wrist. The WaveRacer's total weight of just 4.6 oz. reflects this - you get a rugged, full-sized 44mm dive chronograph that wears far lighter than a comparable steel watch.
What is a vertical clutch chronograph and why is it better?
A vertical clutch engages the chronograph mechanism through a vertical gear mesh rather than a horizontal one, which virtually eliminates the "jumping" of the seconds hand when you start the chronograph. It also reduces wear on the movement during engagement, contributing to long-term accuracy and durability. Combined with the integrated column-wheel architecture of the Oceaneva 4155, this results in a smooth, precise, and satisfying feel every time you use the stopwatch function.
How limited is this watch really?
Each model number of the WaveRacer is strictly limited to 50 pieces globally - not 50 per year, but 50 total ever produced. Each watch is individually serialized with a unique number (XX/50) that is matched to your Stainless Steel Certificate of Authenticity card, making it verifiably rare. Once those 50 units are claimed, that model number will never be produced again.
Can I get the strap adjusted for my wrist size?
Yes. The WaveRacer comes with a premium German FKM rubber strap available in both standard and extended lengths. Oceaneva will contact you prior to shipment to confirm which length suits your wrist best, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit right out of the box.
Is this watch suitable for actual scuba diving or saturation diving?
Yes. The WaveRacer is rated to 1000 meters and includes a helium escape valve for saturation diving compatibility. Oceaneva is one of only six brands in history to have tested their watches at actual ocean depths, so this rating is not just a marketing claim. The screw-down crown, screw-down pushers with four seals each, and multi-layer sealing system make it fully capable for serious diving use.
