Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph Automatic Grade 5 Titanium Watch Black
Description
The Oceaneva WaveRacer 1000m Mechanical Chronograph is a landmark achievement in modern horology - the first timepiece ever to combine automatic chronograph functionality, an integrated column-wheel movement with vertical clutch, 1000m water resistance, and Grade 5 Titanium construction in a single case just 16.5mm thick. Built for the discerning collector who demands historical significance alongside elite craftsmanship, the WaveRacer is far more than a dive watch - it is a precision instrument that redefines what is possible at its price point. The beating heart is the Oceaneva 4155 caliber, a 288-component movement operating at 28,800 bph with a 55-hour power reserve, hacking seconds, and a vertical clutch chronograph mechanism that delivers a tactile, wear-free experience with every pusher press.
The black dial with silver Guilloché subdial rings brings traditional fine watchmaking artistry to a tool watch platform, while Grade A BGW9 Swiss Luminova on the bezel markers, indices, and skeletonized hands ensures flawless legibility in any light or depth. Strictly limited to 50 individually serialized pieces per model number, each WaveRacer arrives with a stainless steel certificate of authenticity, a serialized warranty card, and a premium watertight presentation case - making this one of the most compelling limited-edition releases in the American dive watch space.
Key Features
- Oceaneva 4155 Movement: 41-jewel automatic chronograph with integrated column-wheel and vertical clutch design - delivers smooth, wear-free pusher engagement and long-term accuracy.
- 1000m Water Resistance: Achieved through screw-down pushers with four independent seals each and a precision screw-down crown - exceptional for any mechanical chronograph.
- Grade 5 Titanium Case and Bezel: 227% stronger and 225% harder than stainless steel, yet 40% lighter - offers supreme durability, corrosion resistance, and wrist comfort.
- Black DLC Bezel Coating (2000 HV): Diamond-like carbon coating rated at 2000 Vickers Hardness - roughly 5-8x harder than standard Grade 5 titanium, making the bezel extremely scratch resistant.
- 55-Hour Power Reserve: Operating at 28,800 bph (4Hz) with an accuracy of +/- 8.5 seconds per day on average, tested via random production sampling.
- Black Dial with Silver Guilloché Subdial Rings: Classic three-register chronograph layout - continuous sub-seconds at 6 o'clock, 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, and 12-hour counter at 9 o'clock.
- Grade A BGW9 Swiss Luminova: Applied to bezel markers, hour indices, and skeletonized hands - charges quickly and emits a bright, long-lasting blue glow for low-light legibility.
- 4.3mm Domed Sapphire Crystal: Slightly domed, nearly scratch-proof sapphire crystal provides crystal-clear visibility and robust impact protection.
- Helium Escape Valve: Included for saturation diving compatibility, ensuring pressure equalization during extended deep-water operations.
- Limited Edition - 50 Pieces: Each watch is individually serialized (XX/50) with a matching stainless steel certificate of authenticity - true collector rarity.

Why You'll Love It
The Oceaneva WaveRacer is proof that collectors no longer have to spend $8,000-$20,000 to own an automatic chronograph with Grade 5 Titanium construction and 1000m water resistance - this is the only watch in the world to combine all four of those benchmarks, at any price. Oceaneva is proud to be a USA-based brand and only the 6th brand in history to test their watches at actual ocean depths, so the water resistance rating isn't theoretical - it is proven. At just 4.6 ounces, the WaveRacer wears effortlessly all day while being engineered to handle the most extreme aquatic and environmental conditions imaginable. The heritage-inspired Neptune Statue caseback engraving, Côtes de Genève rotor finishing, Perlage plates, heat-blued screws, and gold foil Oceaneva logo on the rotor all speak to a level of movement decoration you would expect to pay multiples more for. With only 50 pieces ever produced per model, this is a timepiece that gains meaning - and value - with every passing year.

FAQ
What makes the WaveRacer's 1000m water resistance so remarkable for a chronograph?
Most mechanical chronographs are water resistant to only 100-300m because the screw-down pushers required for deeper ratings are technically complex and expensive to engineer correctly. The WaveRacer achieves 1000m by equipping each pusher with four independent seal sets and pairing them with a precision screw-down crown. This level of sealing in an automatic chronograph is genuinely unprecedented at this price point - competing brands that offer similar specs typically charge $8,000 or more.
What is the difference between the vertical clutch design and a standard cam-and-lever chronograph?
A cam-and-lever (or horizontal clutch) system engages the chronograph mechanism laterally, which can cause a slight jolt or jump of the seconds hand when the pusher is pressed. A vertical clutch engages from above, resulting in a perfectly smooth, jolt-free start every time. It also reduces friction and wear over thousands of uses, contributing to the long-term durability and accuracy of the movement.
Is the Grade 5 Titanium case safe for people with metal sensitivities or nickel allergies?
Yes. Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) is widely regarded as hypoallergenic and biocompatible. It contains no nickel, which is the most common cause of metal contact allergies in watches. It is the same grade of titanium used in medical implants and aerospace components, making it an excellent choice for wearers with sensitive skin.
Can I wear the WaveRacer while scuba diving or freediving?
Absolutely. With 1000m of water resistance, screw-down pushers, a screw-down crown, a helium escape valve, and ocean-depth testing by Oceaneva themselves, the WaveRacer is fully rated for recreational scuba, technical diving, and even saturation diving applications. Just ensure the pushers and crown are fully screwed down before entering the water.
How limited is this edition really, and does it come with proof of authenticity?
Each model number is strictly limited to 50 individually serialized pieces worldwide. Your WaveRacer comes with a stainless steel Certificate of Authenticity card that matches the serial number engraved on your case, along with a stainless steel Warranty Card. The inner bezel also features an engraved anti-counterfeiting measure - the Oceaneva Trident Logo and "WaveRacer" repeated four times - to protect buyers from replicas.
Does the strap come in different sizes, and is there an option for larger wrists?
Yes. The WaveRacer is available with the FKM rubber strap in both standard and extended lengths. Oceaneva will contact you prior to shipment to confirm which length is right for your wrist, ensuring a tailored, comfortable fit before the watch leaves the warehouse.
