FAQ
What is a CPM machine and how does it help knee recovery?
A CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) machine gently moves the knee joint through a controlled range of motion without requiring active muscle effort from the patient. This helps reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and promote healing of cartilage and soft tissue after knee surgery. CPM therapy is commonly prescribed following total knee replacements, ACL reconstruction, and other orthopedic procedures.
What does the "patient lock-out" feature do?
The patient lock-out feature prevents the patient from altering the programmed therapy settings on the unit. This ensures that the range of motion and speed settings prescribed by the clinician or therapist remain unchanged throughout the treatment session, promoting consistent and safe recovery.
Is the Kinetec Spectra DC suitable for home use?
Yes. The Spectra DC is designed to be used in both clinical and home settings. Its dual carry handles, lightweight 37 lb frame, and easy-to-use waterproof digital hand control make it practical for patients recovering at home. Always follow your physician or physical therapist's prescribed settings and usage schedule.
What range of motion does this CPM cover?
The Kinetec Spectra DC covers a range from hyperextension through to 120 degrees of full flexion, providing comprehensive passive motion therapy across the typical therapeutic range needed for most knee rehabilitation protocols.
Can this unit accommodate larger patients?
Yes. The Spectra DC features a wide 10" carriage specifically designed to accommodate patients of varying sizes and leg dimensions, making it suitable for a broad patient population in clinical and home settings.
