Hero 130 Apex Microskiff
Description
The Hoodoo Sports Hero 130 Apex Microskiff bridges the gap between kayak agility and full skiff capability, delivering a stable, versatile platform purpose-built for serious anglers. With its wide, confidence-inspiring hull, the Apex offers exceptional balance and a 660 lb weight capacity - giving you room to load up gear for a full day on the water without sacrificing maneuverability. The microskiff layout provides more usable deck space and storage than a traditional kayak, making it equally at home on shallow flats, inland waterways, or open water.
What truly sets the Apex apart is its flexibility: paddle it, use the included Impulse I-Drive fin drive system for hands-free propulsion in shallow water, or mount an outboard motor up to 6 hp for open-water range. A built-in 360-degree swivel seat, accessory rails, and multiple gear tracks round out a package that is as ready to customize as it is to fish right out of the box. Whether you're a weekend angler or a dedicated flats fisherman, the Hero 130 Apex is built to go further.

Why You'll Love It
The Hero 130 Apex Microskiff is engineered for anglers who refuse to be limited by their watercraft. Its triple propulsion compatibility means you're never stuck - paddle when you want simplicity, engage the fin drive for stealthy, hands-free movement through the shallows, or fire up an outboard when you need to cover water fast. The wide, stable hull gives you the confidence to stand and cast, and the 660 lb capacity means you never have to leave gear behind. Built from tough rotomolded HDPE by Hoodoo Sports, a Texas-based brand with a dedicated support team, the Apex is designed for years of dependable use on the water. FAQ
Does the Hero 130 Apex come with an outboard motor?
No, the outboard motor is not included. The Apex comes ready to paddle and includes the Impulse I-Drive fin drive system. If you want outboard power, you can add a compatible motor separately - the hull supports outboards up to 6 hp. Hoodoo Sports also offers motor packages, such as the Hero 130 Apex + Bixpy N-3 Motor Package, if you'd like everything bundled together.
How does the Hero 130 Apex get shipped, and what should I expect at delivery?
The Hero 130 Apex ships via freight carrier due to its size and weight. Delivery trucks are equipped with a liftgate for easy unloading, and most shipments include appointment scheduling so you can be home to receive it. Standard freight starts at $175 and expedited freight starts at $275. Upon delivery, inspect the kayak carefully and note any damage on the bill of lading before signing - this is important for any damage claims.
Can I stand up and fish from the Hero 130 Apex?
Yes - the wide 39-inch hull and stable microskiff platform are designed to inspire confidence for standing and casting. The 660 lb weight capacity and broad deck give you a solid, stable base whether you're sight-fishing the flats or reeling in a heavy catch.
What is the difference between the fin drive and an outboard motor on the Apex?
The Impulse I-Drive fin drive system is a pedal-powered, hands-free propulsion system that works great in shallow water where you want quiet, efficient movement without spooking fish. An outboard motor (sold separately, up to 6 hp) gives you significantly more speed and range for covering open water quickly. The Apex is unique in that it supports both systems, so you can set it up for the style of fishing you do most.
Do I need a trailer to transport the Hero 130 Apex?
Not necessarily. At 13 feet long and 125 lbs hull weight (145 lbs fully rigged), the Apex can be transported on a kayak trailer, a truck bed with proper support, or on roof racks with the right equipment. Its compact microskiff design makes it easier to handle than a full-size boat, though you'll want at least two people for lifting and launching.
Is the Hero 130 Apex suitable for saltwater fishing?
Yes - the Hero 130 Apex is well-suited for shallow saltwater environments like coastal flats, backwater creeks, and inshore areas. Its rotomolded HDPE hull is resistant to saltwater corrosion, and the fin drive system excels in the shallow, grassy conditions common in saltwater flats fishing. Just rinse your hardware and accessories with fresh water after saltwater use to extend their lifespan.
