FAQ
How does the linear stepping motion differ from an elliptical or standard recumbent bike?
The PhysioStep LXT-700 uses a patented linear stepping motion - a straight, downward stepping action that closely mirrors the movement used in physical therapy. Unlike an elliptical, which uses an oval path, or a recumbent bike, which uses circular pedaling, the linear step is gentler on the knees and hips and more closely replicates natural walking mechanics. This makes it especially beneficial for users in cardiac or orthopedic rehabilitation who need effective exercise with minimal joint stress.
Is this machine appropriate for someone recovering from surgery or injury?
Yes - the PhysioStep LXT-700 is FDA registered as a Class 1 medical device and is widely used in cardiac rehabilitation and physical therapy transition programs. Its low-impact linear motion, swivel seat for easy access, and adjustable resistance starting at level 1 make it one of the most accessible exercise machines available. Always consult your physician or physical therapist before beginning any new exercise program post-surgery.
What is the swivel seat and why does it matter?
The swivel seat rotates a full 360 degrees, allowing users to approach the machine from either side and slide into position without twisting or straining. This is especially important for people with hip or knee limitations, recent joint replacements, or general mobility challenges. It also makes a significant practical difference over time - getting on and off a recumbent machine with a fixed seat can become a barrier to daily use, whereas the swivel seat keeps every session easy and accessible.
Can I use my HSA or FSA to purchase this machine?
Yes. The PhysioStep LXT-700 is HSA and FSA eligible, which can save you an average of 30% compared to paying with after-tax dollars. This is made possible because it is an FDA-registered Class 1 medical device. Contact us if you need documentation or have questions about the purchasing process.
How does delivery and assembly work?
The PhysioStep LXT-700 ships LTL freight on a pallet to your garage or a flat, pallet jack-accessible area. It arrives approximately 85% pre-assembled with all tools needed for final assembly included. The freight company will contact you to schedule a delivery appointment. If you need in-home delivery or full assembly, White Glove options are available at checkout for an additional fee. Note that the freight company cannot enter your residence.
How does the PhysioStep LXT-700 compare to the NuStep?
The PhysioStep LXT-700 and NuStep are both recumbent cross trainers used in rehabilitation settings, but the LXT-700 offers several features the NuStep T4r does not - including a reclining seat back and a wider, memory foam swivel seat. HCI Fitness also holds FDA registration and CE safety certification for the LXT-700, and the machine's 2:1 contralateral arm-to-leg motion is patented. A full comparison is available in the product brochure.
