Gen-Y Hitch The BOSS Torsion-Flex Weight Distribution Shank 21K - 3in Receiver

Description

The Gen-Y Hitch BOSS Torsion-Flex Weight Distribution Shank delivers one of the smoothest towing experiences available on the market today. Built from heavy-duty steel and finished with a durable silver-vein powder coat, this shank is engineered to handle serious towing demands while dramatically reducing road vibration and trailer bounce. Gen-Y's patented Torsion-Flex technology uses heavy-duty rubber torsion cords to absorb shock, creating up to 90% smoother ride quality compared to a standard rigid shank setup.

Compatible with any weight distribution system, this shank is a versatile upgrade for a wide range of trailers - from travel trailers and toy haulers to fifth wheels and beyond. Available in multiple drop configurations and receiver sizes, the BOSS Weight Distribution Shank is rigorously tested to exceed SAE-J684 Weight Testing Requirements and is proudly manufactured in the USA.

Key Features

  • Patented Torsion-Flex Technology: Heavy-duty rubber torsion cords absorb road shock, creating up to 90% smoother ride quality - protecting both your truck and cargo.
  • 21,000 lb Towing Capacity: Rated for demanding towing applications including large travel trailers, toy haulers, and heavy equipment trailers.
  • 2,400 lb Tongue Weight Rating: Handles substantial tongue weight loads while maintaining smooth, controlled towing.
  • Multiple Drop Configurations: Available in 6.5" to 11" drop with adjustable positions, ensuring a precise fit for your specific truck and trailer combination.
  • Compatible with Any Weight Distribution System: Works with virtually all existing weight distribution setups, making it an easy upgrade without replacing your entire system.
  • Heavy-Duty Steel Construction: Fabricated from robust steel and finished with a zinc primer and epoxy powder coat for long-lasting corrosion resistance.
  • Made in the USA: Designed and manufactured domestically, engineered with SOLIDWORKS software, and backed by a USA-made compliance letter.
  • SAE-J684 Tested: Exceeds industry standard weight distribution testing requirements for verified safety and performance.
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty: Covers structural components for life, with a 5-year warranty on rubber torsion components.
  • 500-Mile Break-In Period: Torsion-Flex rubber components reach optimal performance after approximately 500 miles of use.

Drop Options & Which to Choose

  • 11in Drop (12 Adjustable Positions): The most popular configuration for trucks with significant rear lift or for tall receiver heights. Twelve adjustable positions give you precise leveling control for a wide variety of trailer tongue heights. Best for full-size trucks and heavy-duty rigs where a longer drop is needed to achieve a level ride.
  • 7in Drop (8 Adjustable Positions): A mid-range drop ideal for standard full-size pickups towing mid-height trailers. Eight adjustable positions offer excellent versatility without over-dropping. Great for most half-ton and three-quarter-ton truck setups.
  • 6.5in Drop with Pintle Plate (6 Adjustable Positions): Combines a slightly shorter drop with an integrated pintle plate accessory, making it the right choice for applications requiring a pintle-style connection alongside weight distribution. Ideal for commercial or agricultural towing setups that use pintle hook couplers.

Manuals & Guides

FAQ

What is Torsion-Flex technology and how does it work?

Gen-Y's patented Torsion-Flex technology uses heavy-duty rubber torsion cords integrated into the hitch shank to absorb road shock and vibration before it transfers to your truck or trailer. Instead of a rigid steel-on-steel connection, the rubber cords flex and compress with each bump, creating up to 90% smoother ride quality. This reduces stress on your vehicle, trailer frame, and cargo during extended towing.

Does the BOSS Torsion-Flex work with my existing weight distribution system?

Yes - the BOSS Torsion-Flex Weight Distribution Shank is compatible with virtually any weight distribution system currently on the market. You do not need to replace your existing head unit or spring bars. Simply swap in the BOSS shank in place of your standard shank to gain the benefits of torsion-flex technology.

Is a 3" receiver really necessary, and does my truck have one?

3" receivers are only offered on select Ford vehicles manufactured after 2017. If you are unsure whether your truck has a 2", 2.5", or 3" receiver, measure the inside opening of your hitch receiver before ordering. Using the wrong shank size is a safety hazard and will prevent proper installation. When in doubt, the 2" or 2.5" versions cover the vast majority of trucks on the road.

How long does it take for the hitch to fully break in?

The average break-in period for the Torsion-Flex rubber components is approximately 500 miles. During this period, the rubber cords are seating and conditioning. You may notice the ride continues to improve slightly over the first few hundred miles of towing before reaching its optimal performance.

What is covered under the warranty?

The BOSS Torsion-Flex shank comes with a limited lifetime warranty covering the structural steel components for as long as you own the hitch. The rubber torsion components are covered by a separate 5-year warranty. An optional Torsion-Flex Lifetime Warranty upgrade for the rubber components is also available for purchase separately.

Can I tow at the full 21,000 lb capacity with any truck?

Tow capacity is always limited by the lowest-rated component in your entire towing system - including your vehicle's tow rating, the receiver hitch, the trailer coupler, and the weight distribution system. The BOSS shank is rated for 21,000 lbs, but you should never exceed your vehicle's or any other component's rated capacity. Always verify your truck's towing specifications before loading up.
