FAQ
What is the difference between the recycled plastic and steel post options?
Recycled plastic posts are made from eco-friendly materials, are resistant to moisture and corrosion, and require very little maintenance - making them a great choice for coastal or high-humidity environments. Steel posts offer a traditional, robust look and are equally durable for most outdoor settings. Both options are built for long-term public use; the choice often comes down to environmental considerations and site aesthetics.
Is the Pegasus suitable for young children?
Yes! The Pegasus is designed to be intuitive and accessible for all ages. Its pentatonic key layout ensures that any notes struck will sound harmonious together, making it perfect for young children who are just exploring music. Finished height can be adjusted based on the mount type and post style selected, so the instrument can be positioned at the right level for your target age group.
Can the Pegasus be installed indoors?
While the Pegasus is engineered for outdoor durability, its wall mount and surface mount configurations can work well in large indoor spaces such as schools, sensory rooms, or community centers. Contact us at service@omahasportsandgames.com to discuss which mount configuration would best suit your indoor installation.
Does the Pegasus require professional installation?
Professional installation is recommended, particularly for in-ground and surface mount configurations which involve anchoring into the ground or a hard surface. Freenotes provides a detailed Installation Guide (available for download above) that covers the full process. Wall mount and portable configurations are generally more straightforward, but consulting a professional ensures the instrument is safe and secure for public use.
Does the Pegasus stay in tune over time?
Yes. The anodized aluminum bars are precision-tuned and highly stable - they do not go out of tune the way traditional string or wood instruments do. Aluminum is also resistant to weather-related expansion and contraction, so the Pegasus maintains its tuning reliably in outdoor environments year-round.
What mallets are included, and can I purchase replacements?
The Pegasus comes with two black 80 Durometer mallets, which are a medium hardness well suited to the aluminum bars. If you need replacement mallets, please reach out to us at service@omahasportsandgames.com and we can help you source the correct replacements.
