Crupi Catalina 2.0 Junior Cruiser Race Bike Frame

Description

The Crupi Catalina 2.0 Junior Cruiser Race Frame is a completely redesigned, competition-ready BMX cruiser frame built for young racers who demand the best. Handcrafted in the USA from seamless drawn 6061 T6 butted aluminum, this frame carries on Crupi's legendary race-winning geometry while introducing a host of meaningful upgrades. The updated design features wrap-around seat stays, a slightly shorter seat tube, and a built-in Disc Adapter - eliminating the need for axle-mounted adapters entirely.

Sized for riders standing 4'5" to 4'7", the 18.5" top tube provides an ideal fit for junior cruiser classes. Every detail - from the teardrop-shaped chain stays to the larger square down tube - is engineered to deliver maximum power transfer and stiffness exactly where it matters on the track. If you're serious about junior BMX racing, this is the frame to build around.

Key Features

  • USA Handbuilt Construction: Every frame is hand built in the USA from seamless drawn 6061 T6 butted aluminum tubing for race-grade strength and quality.
  • Race-Winning Geometry: Proven Crupi race geometry carried over and refined in the 2.0 update - trusted on podiums across junior cruiser competition.
  • 18.5" Top Tube: Sized for riders 4'5" to 4'7", purpose-built for the junior cruiser class.
  • Built-In Disc Adapter: New integrated disc brake adapter eliminates the need for axle-mounted adapters - compatible with Tektro, TRP Evo, TRP Slate, and all Shimano hydraulic disc brake kits (Note: Hope, Avid, and all mechanical kits do not fit). Requires Crupi Disc Adapter kit and 120mm rotor.
  • Wrap-Around Seat Stays: Redesigned seat stay configuration adds strength and a sleek, modern profile.
  • Teardrop Chain Stay Tubes: Shaped for exceptional stiffness and power delivery through the rear end.
  • Square-Profile Down Tube: Larger diameter square down tube increases frame rigidity and overall strength.
  • Parallel 3/8" (10mm) Axle Slots: Ground-parallel axle slots keep frame geometry consistent regardless of rear wheel position - no geometry shift as you adjust wheel placement.
  • Thicker 3D Drop-Outs: Extra-stiff drop-outs engineered for disc brake loads, while still accommodating standard chain tensioners for easy wheel installation.
  • V-Brake Compatible: Brake posts included for use with all V-Brakes, keeping setup flexible for riders not running disc.
  • 1" Integrated Head Tube & EB24 Euro BB: Standard race-spec componentry for broad parts compatibility.

Why You'll Love It

Crupi has been a trusted name in BMX racing for decades, and the Catalina 2.0 represents the brand at its best - thoughtfully evolved, race-proven, and built entirely by hand in the USA. Parents and coaches alike know that putting a young racer on a Crupi frame means investing in performance that won't hold them back. The integrated disc adapter, refined geometry, and precision-engineered tubing shapes show that every detail was considered with the competitive junior rider in mind.

Because these frames are hand built in America, availability is limited and demand is high - a testament to how seriously the racing community takes this product. Whether your rider is stepping up to their first cruiser class or chasing a national title, the Catalina 2.0 is a frame built to win and built to last.

FAQ

Does this frame come with a disc brake adapter included?

The Catalina 2.0 frame features a built-in disc adapter mount, but you will need to purchase Crupi's Disc Adapter Kit separately to run a disc brake setup. You'll also need a 120mm rotor for proper fit. Compatible disc brake systems include Tektro, TRP Evo, TRP Slate, and all Shimano hydraulic kits. Note that Hope, Avid, and all mechanical disc brake kits are not compatible.

Can I still run V-Brakes on the Catalina 2.0?

Yes - all Crupi frames, including the Catalina 2.0, include brake posts that are fully compatible with standard V-Brakes. You are not required to run a disc brake setup, so if your rider already has V-Brake components, they will work just fine on this frame.

What size rider is the Catalina 2.0 designed for?

The Catalina 2.0 Junior Cruiser Race Frame has an 18.5" top tube and is designed for riders standing between 4'5" and 4'7". It is built specifically for the junior cruiser BMX racing class. If your rider is outside this height range, check Crupi's other frame options for a better fit.

What if the frame I want is out of stock?

Because every Crupi frame is hand built in the USA, inventory is limited and frames sell out regularly. New frame orders are placed on an ongoing basis. If your preferred size or color is unavailable, contact Crupi or your retailer to be added to a priority list - this ensures you'll have first access when that frame becomes available.

Does changing rear wheel position affect the frame geometry?

No - the Catalina 2.0 features axle slots that are perfectly parallel to the ground. This means no matter where you position your rear wheel within the dropout slot, the frame geometry remains consistent. This is a critical feature for race-focused riders who frequently adjust rear wheel position for chain tension.

Is this frame sold as a complete bike or frame only?

The Crupi Catalina 2.0 is sold as a frame only. You will need to source and install your own components - including handlebars, stem, fork, wheels, cranks, brakes, and seat - to build it into a complete race bike. This gives you full control over your component spec and overall build weight.
