Crupi 20 x 1.50 28H CenterLock Wheelset
Description
The Crupi 20 x 1.50 28H CenterLock Wheelset is a high-performance BMX wheelset built for Expert Plus and Expert/Expert 2X class riders who demand the fastest, most reliable engagement available in BMX racing. All new for 2026, this wheelset is centered around Crupi's innovative Quad CenterLock hubset - featuring 150 ratchet teeth that engage every 2.4 degrees, delivering a spring and pawl engagement so fast you won't believe it isn't instant. Laced with 15G spokes and alloy nipples to race-tested 406mm Rhythm Section 28H rims, every component is chosen for race-day performance and long-term durability.
One of the standout upgrades on this wheelset is the rear hub's 6mm Allen screws, which eliminate the need for tensioner spacers and allow clean, flush fitment into frames with enclosed dropouts. Four included cog spacers let you dial in perfect chain alignment no matter your setup. The CenterLock design also gives you a clear upgrade path - add a Crupi Disc Brake Adapter kit and this hub converts to disc brake use, making these wheels a smart long-term investment for any serious BMX racer.

Cog Size Options & Which to Choose
- 16T (included, no extra cost): The standard race cog included with every wheelset - a popular all-around choice that suits most Expert-class track configurations and gearing setups.
- 13T (+$10): A smaller cog for riders who prefer a taller gear ratio, maximizing top-end speed on longer, faster tracks.
- 14T (+$10): A step up from 13T, offering a strong balance of acceleration and top speed - great for tracks with long straights.
- 15T (+$10): A slightly lower gear ratio than stock, offering a touch more snap out of the gate - ideal for shorter, more technical tracks.
- 17T (+$10): Lower gearing for stronger acceleration off the start - best suited for riders with smaller chainrings or tracks with tight turns.
- 18T (+$10): The lowest ratio available, delivering maximum snap and low-speed torque - a great pick for younger or developing riders who benefit from easier pedaling.

FAQ
What is CenterLock and can I actually convert this hub to disc brakes?
CenterLock is a hub interface standard that allows a disc brake rotor to be mounted directly onto the hub using a lockring. Yes - this hub is disc brake convertible. You'll need to purchase the Crupi Disc Brake Adapter Kit (sold separately) and the CenterLock ISO Converter (also sold separately) to complete the conversion. This makes the wheelset a smart long-term investment as your setup evolves.
Do I need to buy tubes separately?
Yes. These wheels require American Valve (Schrader) tubes, which are not included with the wheelset. Make sure to pick up a compatible set of 20" American valve tubes before riding.
What frames are these wheels compatible with?
These wheels are designed to fit Pro-class BMX frames. They can also be used on Expert and Expert 2X frames, but brake extenders will be required due to the larger wheel diameter. Check your frame's dropout and brake mount specs before ordering if you're unsure.
Can I change the cog size after I order?
Yes - Crupi cassette cogs are available separately, so you can swap your cog at any time to dial in your gearing. When ordering, you can also select an alternate cog size (13t through 18t) for a small upcharge, so your wheelset arrives ready to ride with the gearing you prefer.
Why do the colored versions (Red and Blue) have black rims and spokes?
The 1.50 rim width is only available in black. So on the Black/Red and Black/Blue colorway options, the rims and spokes remain black while the hubs and nipples are colored. This is a production spec for this rim size - the result is a clean, race-focused look with a pop of color at the hub.
What does "28H" mean and why does it matter?
28H refers to the number of spoke holes in the hub and rim - 28 in this case. More spoke holes generally mean a stiffer, stronger wheel. For BMX racing, 28H is a popular balance point between wheel stiffness and weight, making it well-suited for Expert-class competition where power transfer and durability both matter.
