FAQ
What does "Forward Long" mean in the saddle flap description?
The "Forward Long" flap refers to both the angle and the length of the saddle flap. A forward cut positions the flap to align with a shorter stirrup length used in jumping, while the "Long" designation means the flap extends further down than a standard forward flap. This combination is ideal for riders with longer legs who need more coverage and support without the flap ending prematurely at the knee or thigh.
How does the adjustable XCH tree work?
The XCH (Cross-Country/Hunter) adjustable tree system allows the tree width to be modified to better fit different horse back shapes. This means you can fine-tune the saddle fit as your horse's musculature changes with conditioning or as you switch between horses, without needing a completely new saddle. It is recommended to have a qualified saddle fitter assist with any tree adjustments.
What size saddle should I choose?
Saddle sizing is based on the rider's seat size, which is typically measured from the center of the cantle to the front of the pommel. As a general guide, riders with an inseam of 27-28 inches often fit a 16.5, 29-30 inches a 17.0, 31-32 inches a 17.5, and 33 inches and above a 18.0. When in doubt, visiting a local retailer for a professional fitting is strongly recommended.
Are the knee and thigh blocks removable or adjustable?
Yes - both the Velcro Triangle knee block and the Velcro thigh block use a Velcro attachment system, which means they can be repositioned or removed entirely to match your individual riding style and anatomy. This level of customization is a significant advantage for riders who want a tailored feel without ordering a custom saddle.
Is this saddle appropriate for both training and competition?
Absolutely. The Competition Show Jumping II is designed with the demands of both daily training and in-ring competition in mind. The durable Hazelnut Printed Leather holds up to regular use, while the performance-focused features - adjustable tree, supportive blocks, and Bayflex panels - make it equally at home on a practice course as it is at a rated show.
