BUILT Strength Fractal Series Abdominal / Lower Back (New)
Description
The BUILT Strength Fractal Series Abdominal / Lower Back is a commercial-grade dual-function core machine designed to train opposing muscle groups from a single station. Using an adjustable rotating torso pad, users can seamlessly transition between seated abdominal crunches and back extensions without ever touching the weight stack - making antagonist-pair core training more efficient than any two-machine setup. This approach targets both the anterior core (rectus abdominis, obliques) and posterior core (erector spinae, multifidus) in the same session, promoting balanced spinal development and reducing the injury risk that comes from training one side in isolation.
Built for professional gym environments, the Fractal Series machine pairs a 280 lb selectorized weight stack with an 11-gauge steel frame rated at 603 lb - delivering the resistance range and structural rigidity demanded by high-traffic commercial facilities. Ergonomic seat and back support maintain correct posture through both movement arcs, keeping load precisely on the target muscles for every rep.
Key Features
- Adjustable Rotating Torso Pad: Transitions between abdominal crunch and back extension positions without changing the weight stack - enabling fast, efficient antagonist-pair training in a single session.
- Dual Function - Ab Crunch & Back Extension: Two complete core movements from one station, targeting the rectus abdominis and obliques on the anterior side, and the erector spinae and multifidus on the posterior side.
- 280 lb Selectorized Weight Stack: Pin-select resistance provides a wide loading range for progressive core training across both exercises, from beginners to advanced athletes.
- 603 lb Heavy-Duty Commercial Frame: An 11-gauge (3mm) steel frame delivers the structural stability required for sustained daily use in professional gym environments.
- Ergonomic Seat & Back Support: Keeps users in correct spinal alignment throughout both movements, directing load to the target muscles and minimizing compensation through the hips or shoulders.
- No Weight Change Between Exercises: The rotating pad design allows users to switch from ab crunch to back extension without re-pinning the stack - saving time and maintaining training flow.
- Balanced Core Development: Training the abdominals and erector spinae as opposing groups in the same session reduces spinal imbalance and builds injury-resistant, well-rounded core strength.
- Dimensions: 55" x 42" x 58": A compact commercial footprint that fits efficiently into professional gym floor plans without sacrificing functionality.
- Fractal Series Commercial Build: Part of the BUILT Strength Fractal Series line, engineered to the standards of high-traffic professional facilities and backed by a full manufacturer warranty.

Why You'll Love It
The Fractal Series Abdominal / Lower Back machine is built for facilities that take core training seriously - gyms, athletic programs, and performance centers that demand equipment capable of holding up to daily, heavy use without compromise. With a 280 lb stack and a 603 lb commercial-grade steel frame, this machine handles everything from rehabilitation-level loads to serious progressive resistance training. Ergonomic positioning means correct form is built into the design, making it as valuable for coached facilities as it is for self-directed training environments. Backed by a 1-year parts and labor warranty with extended coverage available, and delivered crated with an assembly manual, the Fractal Series is a confident, long-term investment in balanced core strength for your facility.

FAQ
What is the difference between the abdominal crunch and back extension functions on this machine?
The abdominal crunch function targets the anterior core - primarily the rectus abdominis and obliques - through a forward flexion movement. The back extension function targets the posterior core - primarily the erector spinae and multifidus - through a spinal extension movement. The rotating torso pad allows you to switch between these two exercises without changing the weight stack, training both sides of the spine in the same session for balanced core development.
How does the rotating torso pad work?
The rotating torso pad physically adjusts between the abdominal crunch and back extension positions. This means you can complete your set of crunches, rotate the pad to the extension position, and begin your back extension work - all without re-pinning the weight stack or moving to a different machine. It is designed for efficient antagonist-pair training that saves time on the gym floor.
Is this machine appropriate for a commercial gym environment?
Yes. The Fractal Series Abdominal / Lower Back is built specifically for commercial use. The 11-gauge (3mm) steel frame weighs 603 lb and is engineered for sustained daily use in high-traffic professional facilities. The 280 lb selectorized stack accommodates a wide range of users, from beginners to advanced athletes.
Does the machine require assembly, and is professional installation available?
Yes, assembly is required. The machine ships crated on a pallet with an assembly manual included. Professional inside delivery and assembly is available as an add-on at checkout - the delivery team will bring the machine into your facility, assemble and test it, and remove all packaging materials.
How is this machine shipped, and how long does delivery take?
The machine ships via freight, crated and palletized for protection. Standard driveway delivery uses a liftgate to lower the crate to your curb or driveway - moving it inside is your responsibility. Inside delivery and assembly is available as an upgrade. Estimated delivery timelines are provided at checkout based on your ZIP code.
What muscles does this machine train?
The abdominal crunch function primarily works the rectus abdominis and obliques. The back extension function primarily targets the erector spinae and multifidus. Secondary muscles engaged across both movements include the transverse abdominis, hip flexors, and glutes.
What is the warranty on this machine?
The machine comes with a 1-year parts and labor warranty plus a lifetime frame warranty, backed by the seller. Extended coverage options (2- or 3-year total coverage) are available at checkout. Warranty service covers every ZIP code nationwide.
