B&W Continuum Weight Distribution Hitch - 600-1,600 lb Tongue Weight

Description

The B&W Continuum Weight Distribution Hitch is a hydraulically-powered towing solution engineered to actively correct uneven weight distribution rather than simply reacting to sway after it starts. Built around a single pivot point, it eliminates the rattles, noise, and wear common to traditional spring-bar hitches, delivering a noticeably smoother and quieter ride. All setup is performed from the driver's side - simply pump the handle to transfer weight to the front axle and watch the built-in pressure gauge for a consistent, repeatable load every time.

Whether you're towing a travel trailer, fifth-wheel adapter setup, or loaded cargo trailer, the Continuum's composite LITEFLEX bars - developed with Hendrickson, the world leader in heavy-duty truck suspension - cover 600 to 1,600 lb tongue weights without swapping bars or making complicated head adjustments. Backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty and American-made craftsmanship, this hitch is built to inspire confidence mile after mile.

Key Features

  • Hydraulic Weight Distribution System: Uses an aerospace-grade closed-loop hydraulic system to actively and continuously transfer weight to front axles - no guesswork, no manual bar loading tools.
  • Built-In Pressure Gauge: Provides a reliable, repeatable reading every time you hitch up, so you always know exactly how much weight is transferred.
  • Immediate and Continuous Friction Sway Prevention: Because the bars are always loaded, sway prevention begins the moment you start moving - not after a 2-4 degree trailer swing like many competing systems.
  • Single Pivot Point Design: Eliminates common rattle points and reduces long-term wear for a quieter, more refined towing experience.
  • Preset Head Angle: Works for every setup right out of the box - no trial-and-error head adjustments needed for different trailers.
  • Hendrickson LITEFLEX Composite Spring Bars: Five times more flexible than steel at the same strength rating, corrosion resistant, and covers 600-1,600 lb tongue weights with a single set of bars.
  • Driver-Side Setup: All loading and unloading is done from the driver's side - pump to load, twist the needle valve knob to unload smoothly.
  • Compatible with 5" and 6" Trailer Frames: Also fits 4" and 7" frames with optional hardware; underslung coupler variants available for lower-profile hitching.
  • Quick Installation: Installs in approximately 30 minutes using only a 9/16" wrench; head angle is preset and bar assembly arrives pre-assembled.
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty: Backed by B&W's limited lifetime warranty for long-term peace of mind.
  • American Made: Designed and built in the USA by B&W Trailer Hitches.

Receiver, Coupler & Shank Options - Which to Choose

  • 2" Receiver: The most common receiver size, compatible with a wide range of full-size trucks and SUVs. Ideal for most everyday towing setups and the standard choice for the majority of buyers.
  • 2-1/2" Receiver: Designed for larger trucks and heavy-duty tow vehicles with a 2.5" receiver tube. Choose this if your vehicle has a heavy-duty hitch receiver - common on 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks.
  • Standard Coupler: The conventional above-frame coupler configuration. Works with the majority of trailers where the coupler sits above the trailer frame rails. The right choice for most standard travel trailers and cargo trailers.
  • Underslung Coupler: Designed for trailers where the coupler is mounted below the frame rail (underslung). Required for certain trailer configurations to achieve proper hitch geometry - select this if your trailer uses an underslung coupler bracket.
  • Standard Shank: The typical shank length, suitable for most tow vehicle and trailer combinations with standard ball height requirements.
  • Extended Shank: Provides additional clearance between the receiver and ball mount - ideal for tow vehicles with longer rear overhangs or specific trailer frame geometries that require extra reach.
  • Extended Drop Shank: Combines extended length with a drop profile, accommodating setups where the ball height needs to be significantly lower than the receiver height. Best for tow vehicles with a high hitch receiver relative to the trailer coupler height.

Why You'll Love It

The B&W Continuum is trusted by serious towers who demand more from their equipment - and it delivers in ways that conventional weight distribution hitches simply cannot match. The aerospace-inspired hydraulic system brings industrial-grade reliability to your trailer hitch, with components sourced from the same suppliers who build equipment for commercial aircraft and heavy construction machinery. Setup is fast, repeatable, and done entirely from the driver's side, which means less time wrestling with your hitch and more time on the road.

Because the bars are always loaded during travel, friction sway prevention is immediate and continuous - not delayed by degrees of trailer swing. The composite bars cover the full 600 to 1,600 lb tongue weight range without swaps or adjustments, making this hitch equally at home behind a family camper or a heavily loaded work trailer. Proudly American made by B&W Trailer Hitches, and backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, the Continuum is one of the most capable and well-engineered weight distribution hitches available today.

FAQ

Will the hydraulics leak or fail over time?

The Continuum uses a closed-loop hydraulic system specifically designed for this application, with components sourced from aerospace and heavy construction industries. There are no o-rings to degrade over time - the needle valve uses metal-on-metal contact for a zero-leak seal. The system has been tested from -40 degrees F to 150 degrees F, and a built-in pressure relief valve prevents you from ever exceeding safe operating pressure.

Do I need a weight distribution hitch?

Most tow vehicle owner's manuals specify when a weight distribution hitch is required - often for any trailer over 5,000 lb, or when your trailer's gross weight exceeds 50% of your tow vehicle's weight. Other signs you need one: your tow vehicle sags noticeably when you hook up, or you find steering and braking feel impaired while towing. If any of these apply, a weight distribution hitch like the Continuum is an important safety investment.

What if my load changes between trips?

The Continuum's hydraulic design makes mid-trip and between-trip adjustments simple. If you load an ATV, add cargo, or change trailers, just pump the handle a few more times to transfer additional weight to the front axles. There's no need to change spring bars, adjust the head, or add washers - a couple of pumps and a glance at the pressure gauge is all it takes.

How difficult is installation?

Most installations take 30 minutes or less using only a 9/16" wrench. The head angle comes preset, and the bar assembly arrives pre-assembled. Steps include leveling the trailer, setting the ball height, mounting the pump and cylinder to the trailer frame, and pinning the cylinder to the spring bar assembly. No special tools or professional installation required for most setups.

Can I back up with the spring bars attached?

Yes. The Continuum provides more turning clearance than most leading weight distribution hitch brands, so you can back up with the spring bars fully attached. You can also remove the spring bar assembly entirely if you need to tow a lighter trailer that doesn't require weight distribution.

Which receiver size and shank option should I choose?

Select the receiver size (2" or 2-1/2") that matches your tow vehicle's hitch receiver tube. Most half-ton trucks use a 2" receiver; many 3/4-ton and 1-ton trucks use 2-1/2". For the shank, choose Standard for most setups, Extended if your vehicle needs more reach between the receiver and ball mount, or Extended Drop if your tow vehicle's receiver sits significantly higher than your trailer coupler. For the coupler, select Underslung only if your trailer's coupler is mounted below the frame rail.
