B&W 25K Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter with SumoSpring Suspension

Description

The B&W 25K Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter lets you tow a fifth wheel trailer with a gooseneck-equipped truck, delivering a smoother, more controlled ride thanks to an integrated SumoSpring® suspension system. Built for serious towers hauling up to 25,000 lbs, it features dual-axis cushioning that absorbs road shock and reduces chucking in both vertical and horizontal directions. Whether you're navigating rough backroads or crawling through stop-and-go traffic, this adapter keeps starts, stops, and transitions comfortable mile after mile.

Hitching up is fast and frustration-free - the auto-latching coupler clicks into place and resets itself on disconnect, while the large funnel design guides the ball into position even when alignment isn't perfect. The easy-reach latch cable means no awkward stretching or climbing to unhitch, and the padlock-compatible design keeps your trailer secure when parked. Right out of the box, no break-in period is needed - just hook up and go.

Manuals & Guides

FAQ

Will this adapter void my trailer's frame warranty?

The B&W Fifth Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter has been extensively tested and engineered to provide a smooth, stable ride that helps reduce stress on both the truck and trailer. Use of the adapter should not void your trailer's frame warranty.

How do I choose between the 3,250 lb and 4,500 lb pin weight models?

Typically, the smaller pin weight model (3,250 lb) will provide a better ride quality and is the recommended choice in most cases for trailers with a pin weight at or below 3,500 lbs. If your trailer's pin weight exceeds 3,500 lbs, the 4,500 lb model is the recommended option.

What is a SumoSpring® and how does it work?

A SumoSpring® is a durable microcellular polyurethane spring designed to absorb road shock and reduce harsh movement while towing. Originally developed for the commercial trucking industry, it is integrated into the adapter to help absorb bumps, chucking, and vibration between the truck and trailer. Unlike rubber springs or air bags, SumoSprings® are completely maintenance-free and always working - no air pressure, compressors, or adjustments required.

Does the 1116 or 1716 Lippert frame require anything extra?

Yes. The 1116 and 1716 Lippert frame series require the RVXA3140 Shim Kit to account for the 12-1/2" pin box mounting plate spacing. This kit is sold separately and must be ordered along with the adapter for these specific frame series.

Does the adapter work in a truck bed with a recessed box?

Yes, in most cases. The gooseneck ball must be approximately 5.5" away from any obstruction to maintain adequate coupler clearance. A typical installation will provide between 6" and 10" of bed clearance.

How does the SumoSpring® perform in cold weather?

The B&W adapter uses a custom SumoSpring® formulated for superior cushioning and damping across a wide range of temperatures. It has been extensively tested and performs reliably in temperatures as low as -20 degrees F.

What maintenance does the adapter require?

The SumoSpring® suspension is maintenance-free, but some minimal upkeep keeps the adapter in top shape: Before every trip, inspect all bolted connections and grease the gooseneck ball as needed. Every 2,500 miles, grease the four articulating joints through the angled grease fittings. Annually, grease the coupler through the straight grease fitting and rotate the latch handle several times to distribute grease.
