AM 2/24 w/Manual Override Hand Pump

Description

The EQ Systems AM 2/24 is a heavy-duty dual leg hydraulic trailer jack system built for gooseneck trailers carrying horse, motorsports, or cargo loads. Featuring a 4" x 4" square tube-in-tube construction with a 24" stroke, this system delivers a combined lifting capacity of 24,000 lbs across both legs - making quick work of hookups that would otherwise require exhausting manual cranking. Two independent rocker switches let you run both jacks simultaneously or one at a time, so you can level a loaded trailer side to side with precision and confidence.

What sets this system apart is its built-in manual override hand pump - if power is ever lost, you can still raise and lower the jacks without a drill or power tool. From the commercial dual-function pump and protective pump cover to the key switch that prevents unauthorized use, every component is engineered for reliability in demanding real-world conditions. This is the system that turns a two-minute hookup into an everyday reality.

Key Features

  • 24,000 lb Lifting Capacity: Combined capacity across two legs handles heavily loaded horse and motorsports gooseneck trailers with ease.
  • 4" x 4" Tube-in-Tube Construction (AM Series): Robust square tube-in-tube design built for long-term durability in tough environments.
  • 24" Stroke Length: Retracted length of 35.25" and extended length of 58.3125" provide ample range for most gooseneck trailer applications.
  • Manual Override Hand Pump: If the system loses power, a hand pump allows full operation - no drill or power tool required.
  • Dual Independent Rocker Switches: One control box with two rocker switches and a key switch lets you operate each leg independently for precise side-to-side leveling.
  • Key Switch Standard: Prevents unauthorized use of the system - a critical feature for commercial and shared-use trailers.
  • Commercial Dual Function Pump with Pump Cover: Heavy-duty pump is rated for frequent, demanding use and is protected from the elements by an included cover.
  • Universal Mounting Brackets Included: Brackets are included with the system; mounting bolt kit #7227 is sold separately (two kits required for dual leg).
  • High-Temperature PVC Nylon Braid Wire Harnesses: Wiring is sheathed in a high-temp nylon braid to withstand harsh and demanding trailer environments.
  • Cylinder Bore: 2.5" bore cylinder for consistent, reliable hydraulic performance under heavy loads.

The manual override hand pump is a feature you'll be grateful for the one time you need it - providing peace of mind that a dead battery never leaves you stranded. FAQ

Does this system ship with hydraulic fluid?

No - the AM 2/24 ships without hydraulic fluid or mounting bolts. You will need to fill the reservoir with Dexron III ATF, filled to about one inch below the top of the reservoir with the jacks fully retracted. Remember that the fluid level rises as the jacks retract. Always use the vented breather cap on the reservoir during operation - not the flush shipping plug - or the jack may operate erratically.

Are mounting brackets and hardware included?

Universal mounting brackets are included with the system. However, the mounting bolt kit (#7227) is sold separately. For a dual leg system like this one, you will need two bolt kits. These can be added to your order at checkout.

How does the manual override hand pump work?

If the system loses power, you can operate the jacks manually using the included hand pump. First, close both cartridge valves by turning the recessed 1/8" Allen hex clockwise until it stops (about 2 to 2.5 turns). To extend, install the pump handle and pump - expect 10 to 20 strokes before pressure builds and the jacks begin to move. To retract, pull out the red knurled knob on the directional valve, turn it a quarter turn to hold it out, then pump the handle. Afterward, return both cartridge valves and the directional valve knob to their original positions or the jacks may drift down from the stowed position.

Can I run both legs at the same time, or only one at a time?

Both options are available. The control box features two independent rocker switches - one for each leg - so you can raise or lower both legs simultaneously for a fast hookup, or operate them one at a time to level the trailer side to side. This flexibility is especially valuable when working with a fully loaded horse or motorsports trailer on uneven ground.

What battery does this system require?

EQ Systems recommends a battery that can deliver a minimum of 150 amperes at a minimum of 10.5 VDC for at least 30 seconds under load. Keep terminals tight and free of corrosion, and maintain the battery per the manufacturer's recommendations. If your trailer sits between trips, EQ Systems' Stay Charge kits (#8400 and #8427) can charge the trailer battery from the tow vehicle, and the solar kit (#70486) helps keep the battery topped up while in storage.

What maintenance does this system require?

EQ Systems recommends inspecting the system every 12 months. During inspection, check that all connections are tight and free from corrosion - particularly the ground connection to the pump stud and the positive cable to the motor solenoid. Also verify that the hydraulic fluid level is correct with the jacks fully retracted and that the vented breather cap is installed on the reservoir.
