AM 2/24 Hydraulic Jacks with Manual Override

Description

The AM 2/24 Hydraulic Jack system from EQ Systems is a complete dual-leg hydraulic lifting solution built for gooseneck trailers - horse trailers, motorsports trailers, and heavy-duty haulers that demand reliable, effortless hookup every time. Engineered around a rugged 4" x 4" square tube-in-tube design, this system delivers a combined 24,000 lb lifting capacity across two independently controlled legs, replacing the time and effort of cranking a manual jack with a simple rocker switch.

With a 24" stroke and dual rocker switch control, you can run both legs simultaneously or one at a time - making it easy to level a loaded trailer side to side in minutes rather than fighting it by hand. The built-in manual override ensures you're never stranded if the system loses power, giving you the peace of mind that comes with a well-engineered backup on the road or at the fairground.

Key Features

  • 24,000 lb Lifting Capacity: Combined load rating across two legs - handles loaded horse and motorsports trailers with ease.
  • 4" x 4" Tube-in-Tube Design (AM Series): Heavy-duty square tube construction built for long-term durability under demanding conditions.
  • 24" Stroke Length: Retracted length of 35.25" and extended length of 58.3125" for wide-range height adjustment on gooseneck trailers.
  • Dual Independent Rocker Switches: One control box with two rocker switches lets you operate each leg independently for precise side-to-side leveling.
  • Key Switch Standard: Prevents unauthorized operation of the system - a practical security feature for trailers left unattended.
  • Manual Override: Screw-drive output shaft allows operation via electric drill (minimum 2000 RPM) if the system loses power - follow the AM Dual Leg manual for proper procedure.
  • Commercial Dual-Function Pump with Pump Cover: Heavy-duty pump rated for commercial use, protected by an included pump cover.
  • Universal Mounting Brackets Included: Bolt-on installation to the front of a gooseneck trailer; mounting bolt kit #7227 sold separately (two kits required for dual-leg).
  • High-Temperature PVC Nylon Braid Wire Harnesses: Wiring is built to hold up in the toughest environments, resisting heat and abrasion.
  • 2.5" Cylinder Bore: Provides the hydraulic force needed for consistent, powerful lifting performance.

Why You'll Love It

EQ Systems has been engineering hydraulic lifting solutions trusted by horse trailer owners, motorsports haulers, and commercial operators for decades - and the AM 2/24 reflects that experience in every detail. What once took two people and significant effort now takes one person and two minutes, whether you're hooking up before a horse show or getting back on the road after a race weekend. The independent leg control means you can dial in a perfect level even on uneven ground, protecting your trailer, your cargo, and your equipment.

Built in Cassopolis, Michigan, this system is engineered for the long haul - rugged enough for daily use, with a maintenance-friendly design and readily available service parts like the replacement cylinder (part 1179EQ) and switchgear (part 6704). The annual 12-month inspection checklist and thorough documentation make it easy to keep the system in peak condition for years to come. For anyone who regularly hauls heavy or valuable loads, the AM 2/24 is the kind of investment that pays for itself in convenience, reliability, and confidence every single trip.

FAQ

Does this system ship with hydraulic fluid and mounting bolts?

No - the AM 2/24 ships without hydraulic fluid or mounting bolts. The system runs on Dexron III ATF, filled to about one inch below the top of the reservoir with the jacks fully retracted. For mounting on the included universal brackets, you will need to order bolt kit #7227 separately - two kits are required for a dual-leg system like this one.

What happens if the system loses power in the field?

The AM 2/24 includes a screw-drive manual override that lets you operate the jacks using an electric drill through the override shaft on the end of the motor (under the plastic cap or foil seal). The drill must reach at least 2000 RPM to develop enough pressure to move the jacks. Hex driver size varies by pump - most use a 7/16" hex driver, while others use a 1/4" (6mm) Allen hex key. On this independent control system, the two cartridge valves must be closed first and returned afterwards - always consult the AM Dual Leg manual's override section before proceeding.

Can I operate the two legs independently to level my trailer side to side?

Yes - that is one of the standout features of this system. The control box includes two separate rocker switches, one for each leg, so you can run both legs together or each one individually. This makes it straightforward to level a loaded trailer on uneven ground without assistance.

What battery does this system require?

EQ Systems recommends a battery capable of delivering a minimum of 150 amperes at 10.5 VDC for at least 30 seconds. Keep terminals tight, clean, and corrosion-free, and maintain the battery per the manufacturer's requirements. If the trailer sits between trips, EQ Systems offers Stay Charge kits (#8400 and #8427) to charge the trailer battery from the tow vehicle, and solar kit 70486 to keep the jack battery topped up between uses.

Is this system compatible with other stroke lengths?

The AM series legs are available in 16", 20", 24", and 30" stroke lengths. This listing ships with the 24" stroke legs (retracted: 35.25", extended: 58.3125"). If your trailer application requires a different stroke length, contact EQ Systems directly to find the right configuration for your setup.

How often does the system need to be serviced?

EQ Systems recommends inspecting the system every 12 months. During inspection, check that all connections are tight and free from corrosion - paying particular attention to the ground connection at the pump stud and the positive cable at the motor solenoid. Also verify the reservoir is fitted with the vented breather cap (not the flush shipping plug), as operating with the wrong cap can cause erratic jack behavior.
