12V 460Ah V2-T Elite Series LiFePO4 Battery (5.89kWh)

Description

The Epoch 12V 460Ah V2-T Elite Series LiFePO4 Battery delivers a massive 5.89kWh of nominal stored energy in a single, compact unit - purpose-built to replace bulky multi-battery lead-acid banks in premium marine house systems, high-end RVs, and off-grid solar installations. Engineered for educated DIY installers and professional integrators alike, this battery goes far beyond basic lithium performance with a suite of integrated features that simplify installation, enhance safety, and support advanced system management. Native Victron CANbus communication, a user-serviceable 400A Class T fuse, an IP67 immersion-rated enclosure, and a built-in cold-weather heater set this battery apart from conventional lithium options.

With 230A continuous discharge capability and a 500A peak for inverter surge events, this battery is sized for 2,500W-3,000W class inverter systems and heavy marine or RV house loads. A 210A continuous charge rate means fast recovery from solar, shore power, or inverter-charger sources - and the included State of Charge meter with Bluetooth module gives you real-time visibility through the free Epoch Cloud app. Backed by an 11-year limited warranty and rated for 3,500+ cycles, the V2-T Elite is built to be the cornerstone of a serious 12V power system for years to come.

Key Features

  • 5.89kWh Nominal Energy Capacity: A full 460Ah at 12V in a single battery - replaces multiple smaller batteries in premium house banks and off-grid systems.
  • Integrated 400A Class T Fuse (Eaton Bussmann JJN-400): User-serviceable fuse built into the battery reduces fault energy at the outlet in high-draw inverter setups. Downstream protection is still required.
  • Victron CANbus Communication (500 kbit/s): Native integration with Victron GX devices (Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX); with DVCC enabled, the BMS publishes charge limits and state of charge for closed-loop charge management.
  • 230A Continuous / 500A Peak Output: Handles large 12V inverter systems in the 2,500W-3,000W class continuously, with 500A peak available for up to 10 seconds to handle surge events.
  • 210A Continuous Charge Rate: Fast recharging from solar, inverter-chargers, or DC-to-DC chargers (recommended for alternator sources); all combined charge sources must stay at or below 210A.
  • IP67 Immersion-Rated Enclosure: Dust-tight and rated for temporary immersion to 1 meter for 30 minutes with all seals, glands, and port plugs installed - built for demanding marine and outdoor environments.
  • 180.67W Internal Cold-Weather Heater: Powered by the connected charger (not stored battery energy), the heater warms cells below 5°C so charging pauses at 0°C and resumes once the battery reaches 5°C - protecting cells in cold RV, marine, and off-grid use.
  • Bluetooth Monitoring via Epoch Cloud App: The included State of Charge meter houses the Bluetooth module; connect with the free iOS and Android app to view state of charge, cell voltage, temperature, cycles, and system health alerts in real time.
  • Up to 16 Batteries in Parallel: Wire up to 16 matched C12460A-A units for a 12V bank of up to 7,360Ah / 94.2kWh, or up to 4 in series for a 48V-class string (series-parallel not supported).
  • 3,500+ Cycle Life & 11-Year Limited Warranty: Rated to 70% capacity after 3,500+ cycles; warranty covers free repair or replacement in Years 1-5, then 40% off MSRP on a replacement in Years 6-11.

Options & Which to Choose

  • 12V 460Ah V2-T (5.89kWh): The standard 12V configuration - ideal for large 12V house banks, marine vessels, RVs, and inverter systems in the 2,500W-3,000W class. Supports up to 16 units in parallel for massive 12V capacity expansion. Best for builds where a 12V backbone is already established or preferred.
  • 24V 230Ah V2-T: The 24V configuration offers the same total energy in a system voltage that reduces wire gauge requirements and improves efficiency for mid-size inverter and solar setups. A strong choice for van conversions, smaller off-grid cabins, and marine systems designed around 24V architectures.
  • 48V 100Ah V2-T: The 48V configuration is optimized for solar energy storage, home backup, and professional off-grid systems where high-voltage efficiency is critical. Lower current at the same power level means thinner wiring, less heat, and better compatibility with 48V inverter-chargers and solar charge controllers.

FAQ

Do I still need an external fuse if this battery has a built-in Class T fuse?

Yes. The integrated 400A Eaton Bussmann JJN-400 Class T fuse protects at the battery outlet and reduces fault energy in high-draw inverter setups, but it does not replace the requirement for a main fuse or DC-rated breaker installed as close as practical to the battery positive terminal. Downstream overcurrent protection for your wiring is still required per standard installation practice and ABYC guidelines for marine installations.

How does the internal heater work for cold-weather charging?

The 180.67W internal heater draws power from the connected charger - not from stored battery energy - to warm the cells before charging begins. When the battery temperature drops below 5°C (41°F), the heater activates. Charging pauses at 0°C (32°F) and automatically resumes once the battery reaches 5°C (41°F). This protects the LiFePO4 cells from damage caused by charging in cold conditions without requiring any manual intervention.

How do I set up this battery with my Victron system?

Connect the included RJ45 communication harness from the battery's black port to your Cerbo GX, Ekrano GX, or compatible GX device's BMS CAN port (set the VE.CAN port speed to 500 kbit/s on the Cerbo Mk2). Set the DIP switches per the included manual, then in the GX device enable DVCC, set the controlling BMS to Epoch, and set the battery monitor to Epoch. The battery should appear in the GX device list, and the system will display "External Control" on the inverter tile when charging. It is recommended to also manually program your Multiplus, Quattro, and all other charge sources to 14.2V absorption / 13.5V float in case of CAN communication loss.

Can I connect multiple batteries in parallel or series?

Yes. Up to 16 matched C12460A-A batteries can be wired in parallel for a 12V bank of up to 7,360Ah / 94.2kWh. Up to 4 batteries can be wired in series for a 48V-class string. Series-parallel combinations are not supported. When connecting in parallel, daisy-chain the communication harness from each battery's black port to the next unit's blue port, and set the DIP switches as directed in the manual.

Is this battery suitable for alternator charging?

A DC-to-DC charger programmed for LiFePO4 is highly recommended when charging from an alternator. Directly connecting a LiFePO4 battery to a standard alternator can damage the alternator due to the battery's low internal resistance and high acceptance rate. A quality DC-to-DC charger protects the alternator and ensures the battery receives a properly regulated charge profile.

What does the Epoch Cloud app show, and do I need extra hardware?

No extra hardware is needed - the Bluetooth module is built into the included State of Charge meter. The free Epoch Cloud app (available on iOS and Android) connects over Bluetooth and displays state of charge, cell voltage, temperature, charge and discharge cycle count, current flow, and system health alerts in real time. This gives you full battery visibility without purchasing a separate Bluetooth monitor.

What is covered under the 11-year limited warranty?

The warranty covers free repair or replacement during Years 1 through 5. From Years 6 through 11, you receive 40% off MSRP on a replacement battery. To activate full warranty coverage, register within 90 days of purchase - or retain your proof of purchase if you do not register. US-based support is available by phone at 1-888-501-1846.
