FAQ
What is the Romberg Test and why is it important?
The Romberg Test is an internationally recognized clinical assessment used to evaluate a patient's ability to maintain balance while standing still. It helps clinicians identify balance deficits, assess neurological function, and determine a patient's fall risk. The Sense of Balance includes both the Classic and Extended versions of this test, giving therapists a comprehensive picture of each patient's balance status.
Can this device be used outside of a clinical setting?
Yes. The Sense of Balance is designed for both clinical and home healthcare use. Its battery-powered, portable design makes it easy to bring to in-room patient treatment or home visits - no outlet or fixed setup required.
How do the balance training games work?
The three included games use the patient's Center of Pressure (CoP) - measured in real time by the pressure mapping mat - to control on-screen movements. This approach targets postural control, weight shifting, and cognitive function simultaneously, keeping patients actively engaged in their therapy while reinforcing key rehabilitation skills.
What data does the pressure mapping feature provide?
The pressure mapping mat captures anterior/posterior (A/P) force distribution, right/left (R/L) force distribution, center of pressure, and feet angle. This data is analyzed in real time and used to identify balance issues, guide treatment planning, and track patient progress over time.
Is the Sense of Balance easy to set up and use?
Yes - ease of use is a core design principle. The system is portable, battery-powered, and built to integrate into fast-paced clinical workflows without a steep learning curve. Therapists can get started quickly and focus on patient care rather than complicated setup procedures.
