Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 Chartplotter with GT56UHD-TM Transducer

Description

The Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2 is a powerhouse marine chartplotter built for serious anglers and boaters who demand the best in fishfinding technology. Available in 10", 12", and 16" sunlight-readable touchscreen displays, it delivers a full suite of sonar capabilities alongside versatile chart mapping options. The bundle with the GT56UHD-TM transducer unlocks Ultra High-Definition ClearVu and SideVu scanning sonars, plus CHIRP traditional sonar, giving you photo-like images of structure and fish beneath the surface.

With support for the full Garmin LiveScope live-scanning sonar lineup, multi-band GPS for pinpoint accuracy, and seamless wireless networking between compatible units, the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 is a complete on-water command center. Pair it with the free ActiveCaptain app to manage software updates, screen recordings, and Garmin Quickdraw Community data from your smartphone - all from one intuitive platform.

Key Features

  • Sunlight-Readable Touchscreen: WXGA IPS display available in 10", 12", and 16" sizes with keyed assist input for reliable control in all conditions.
  • Ultra High-Definition Sonar (Bundle): GT56UHD-TM transducer provides CHIRP traditional sonar and UHD ClearVu and SideVu scanning sonar at 260/455/800/1000/1200 kHz.
  • LiveScope Sonar Support: Compatible with the full lineup of Garmin LiveScope live-scanning sonar transducers (sold separately) for real-time underwater viewing.
  • Multi-Band, Multi-Constellation GPS: Supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou with multi-band reception for improved position accuracy.
  • Garmin Navionics+ Mapping (select models): Built-in detailed coastal and inland charts with a 1-year subscription for daily updates, depth range shading, and Auto Guidance+.
  • Wireless Networking: Wirelessly share sonar, waypoints, and routes with compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or ECHOMAP UHD2 chartplotters on the same boat.
  • Vivid Color Sonar Palettes: High-contrast scanning sonar palettes make it easier to distinguish fish, targets, and bottom structure at a glance.
  • ActiveCaptain App Compatible: Free smartphone app enables software updates, screen recordings, and access to Garmin Quickdraw Community mapping data.
  • NMEA 2000 Compatible: Connect to heading sensors, autopilots, Fusion-Link audio systems, and other marine electronics via the NMEA 2000 network port.
  • Force Trolling Motor Integration: Wirelessly connect to a Garmin Force trolling motor to navigate waypoints and follow routes directly from the chartplotter.
  • Quick-Disconnect Bail Mount: Bail mount with quick-release cradle allows fast installation and removal for easy portability between vessels.
  • IPX7 Water Rating: Rated IPX7 for water resistance, built to handle harsh marine environments.

Display Size Options & Which to Choose

  • 10" Display: The most compact option in the lineup, the 10" (1280x800 WXGA IPS) is ideal for smaller boats, kayaks, or as a secondary unit. It offers the full ECHOMAP Ultra 2 feature set in a space-saving form factor that installs virtually anywhere.
  • 12" Display: A versatile mid-size choice for center consoles, bass boats, and walleye rigs where a larger screen improves readability without dominating the helm. Great for anglers who want more screen real estate without stepping up to a full console display.
  • 16" Display: The flagship size for serious offshore and tournament anglers or larger vessels where maximum chart and sonar detail is critical. The expansive display makes it easy to run split-screen views of charts and multiple sonar feeds simultaneously.

Why You'll Love It

Garmin has long been trusted by anglers and mariners worldwide, and the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 series represents their most capable and accessible mid-size chartplotter lineup yet. Whether you're targeting bass on inland lakes, chasing walleye on large reservoirs, or running offshore for saltwater species, this unit gives you the sonar clarity and navigational confidence to find fish and get home safely. The UHD scanning sonar delivers stunning, photo-realistic imagery of the bottom and structure, while multi-band GPS keeps your position locked in even under challenging sky conditions. The seamless integration with Garmin's broader ecosystem - LiveScope, Force trolling motors, autopilots, and the ActiveCaptain app - means your entire boat works together as one intelligent system. Built tough with an IPX7 water rating and engineered for the rigors of daily on-water use, the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 is a long-term investment in your fishing success that will hold its value season after season.

FAQ

What is the difference between the transducer and no-transducer versions?

The transducer bundle includes the GT56UHD-TM transducer, which provides CHIRP traditional sonar and Ultra High-Definition ClearVu and SideVu scanning sonars right out of the box. The non-transducer version comes with an 8-pin to 12-pin adapter cable so you can connect a compatible transducer you already own. If you're starting fresh, the bundle is typically the better value.

Do I need Garmin Navionics+ or is the basemap sufficient?

The worldwide basemap is a general-reference map that shows coastlines and major bodies of water at a non-detailed level - it's useful for basic navigation but not for fishing or cruising in unfamiliar waters. Garmin Navionics+ includes detailed coastal and inland charts with depth contours, Auto Guidance+, tide tables, and a 1-year subscription for daily chart updates. For most boaters and anglers, Garmin Navionics+ is strongly recommended for a significantly better on-water experience.

Can I use LiveScope with the ECHOMAP Ultra 2?

Yes - the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 series is fully compatible with the complete Garmin LiveScope live-scanning sonar lineup, including LiveScope Plus, LiveScope XR, and LiveScope Ice Fishing Systems. Note that LiveScope transducers are sold separately and are not included in any ECHOMAP Ultra 2 bundle. Also, LiveScope sonar data cannot be shared wirelessly between two ECHOMAP Ultra 2 units.

Can I share sonar and waypoints between two chartplotters on my boat?

Yes - the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 supports one-to-one wireless networking with compatible ECHOMAP Ultra 2 and ECHOMAP UHD2 chartplotters. You can wirelessly share traditional sonar, waypoints, and routes between units. The one exception is LiveScope sonar, which cannot be shared wirelessly between two ECHOMAP Ultra 2 or ECHOMAP UHD2 units.

What map cards does the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 accept?

The unit has two microSD card slots and supports a wide range of optional Garmin mapping cards, including BlueChart g3, BlueChart g3 Vision, LakeVu g3, LakeVu g3 Ultra, Garmin Navionics+, Garmin Navionics Vision+, Topo 100K, Standard Mapping, and Garmin Quickdraw Contours. This gives you flexibility to add detailed coverage for virtually any region you fish or cruise.

Is the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 compatible with Garmin Force trolling motors?

Yes - the ECHOMAP Ultra 2 can wirelessly connect to Garmin Force and Force Kraken trolling motors. Once paired, you can navigate to waypoints, draw and follow routes, and control the motor directly from the chartplotter screen - a major advantage for precise boat positioning when fishing.
