Garmin Class B Drive Unit for GHP 12 Autopilot - Hydraulic Linear
Description
The Garmin Class B Drive Unit is a high-capacity hydraulic linear drive designed to work seamlessly with the Reactor 40 Mechanical, Retrofit, and Solenoid Corepacks, giving your sailboat's autopilot system the muscle it needs for precise, reliable steering control. Built for larger sailboats, this unit handles vessels with up to 79,000 lbs of displacement, making it one of the most capable drive units in Garmin's GHP lineup.
Engineered with a robust hydraulic linear mechanism and a maximum thrust of 2,380 lbs, this drive unit delivers confident, consistent performance even in demanding offshore conditions. Whether you're passage-making across open water or racing in heavy seas, the Class B Drive Unit keeps your heading locked in with minimal fuss and maximum reliability.

FAQ
Which Garmin corepacks is this drive unit compatible with?
The Class B Drive Unit is compatible with the GHP Reactor Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid Corepack and the Reactor 40 Mechanical/Retrofit/Solenoid Corepack. It is not a standalone autopilot - it works as the mechanical actuator paired with those Garmin corepacks.
What size sailboat is the Class B Drive Unit designed for?
This drive unit is designed for larger sailboats with up to 79,000 lbs of displacement. If your vessel is smaller or lighter, Garmin offers other drive units in their GHP lineup that may be better suited to your boat.
Is this drive unit compatible with 24V electrical systems?
Yes. The Class B Drive Unit supports a supply voltage range of 10V to 30V, making it fully compatible with both 12V and 24V marine electrical systems.
Does this unit require professional installation?
While technically capable DIYers can install this unit, professional installation by a certified marine electronics technician is strongly recommended. Hydraulic autopilot drive units involve integration with your boat's steering system, hydraulic lines, and electrical system, and improper installation can affect safety at sea.
Does the Class B Drive Unit include the corepack or chartplotter?
No. This listing is for the Class B Drive Unit only. The Reactor 40 Corepack and any compatible Garmin chartplotter or autopilot controller are sold separately. Please contact us at service@omahasportsandgames.com if you need help building out a complete Garmin autopilot system.
